I often use my Android phone as a mobile Wi-Fi hotspot to connect my secondary work laptop when traveling on trains. I have an active secure tunnel running on my phone and I assumed that tethered devices would also be protected by the encryption automatically. However, when I checked the IP on my laptop, it showed my mobile carrier address instead of the secure server IP. Why doesn’t Android share the encrypted tunnel over mobile hotspot tethering?
