looks like exFAT is unsupported by this version of android, I also has problems with exFAT formatted card. Now I have it formated as NTFS, which is not ideal since it has only read support in android.
October 2, 2015 at 12:12 pm #12393Thanks Robert; Thats a shame… 🙁
Do we know if Teclast will be addressing the issue or what?
EDIT: Just formated my card to NTFS, but still nothing… dont even know there is card attached;
October 3, 2015 at 5:20 am #12477I found that only 32gb card works in Android mode. In windows mode size should not be an issue. Only problem is even the 32gb sdcard though usable in Android mode is not seen in Windows mode. When I remove the 32gb in win mode and insert a 64gb all is ok.Anyone have a solution to this? Both sdcard is formatted to fat32.
Solution is put a 32gb sdcard in Win mode first and make sure it is recognize and try transfer some files to it. Than boot to Android and check under storage that the sdcard is also recognize as well. The reason is that under win mode it didn’t recognize my 32gb samsung pro and strontium 64gb also.
Not sure why but scandisk 64gb had no issues on win mode only though, but not on android.
October 3, 2015 at 11:17 am #12490thanks for informing, i will just buy a 32GB sdcard then. Some android may not support external storage bigger than 32GB just like my nexus 7 wont detect OTG with 64GB, even I partition it into smaller chunk it still won’t detect it. Just make sure to buy 32GB instead.
October 13, 2015 at 8:27 pm #13194Hi, could the reason be using SDXC cards instead of SDHC? I tried 64GB Kingston SDXC on both Teclast X98 Pro and Chuwi Hi8, it worked on Windows but not on Android. The same on Lenovo S8-50 (although it only has Android – card was NOT recognized). When I tried to format the card using Android, the system crashed and rebooted.
Do you think 64GB SDHC could be used in both operating systems? I do not own any so I was not able to check it.
October 13, 2015 at 9:31 pm #13201I have kingston sdxc 64gb and have no problems with it in windows or android
October 14, 2015 at 7:09 am #13217Robert, did you install any new drivers? Are you using the preinstalled version of OSes – Windows 10 Home and Android 5.1? Thanks!
October 14, 2015 at 9:56 am #13239Would it not be useful if we compiled a list of all popular SD cards and their respective sizes that are known to work in both Windows and Android? That would simplify the decision for those intending to purchase a new sd card for their X98 Pro…something I am deliberating over myself.
October 14, 2015 at 10:03 am #13240@Tibor no, I didn’t install any extra drivers. Event the ntfs filesystem can be read or written from android, but some special characters in file names have problems in android
I have kingston SDCA10/64GB, 90MB/s read, 45MB/s write
October 14, 2015 at 10:15 am #13243I’ve ordered a Samsung EVO+ 64GB card… SDXC UHS-1 Grade 1 Class 10… will see how it goes… in the past I’ve found Samsung cards to work well with Android phones … had a few issues with sandisk…? At the time I remember being told to get from reputable source as fake ones exist? Hmm … maybe I should have read this thread before ordering!! 🙂
One thing I would say is that there seemed to be a bit of play with card when I inserted it (this was a generic 4GB card…)… initially it wasn’t recognised but I removed and reinserted more carefully and it seems to be working fine now…
EDIT: Now working OK…. had to format card as FAT32 using 3rd party software “Guiformat” …
October 14, 2015 at 4:43 pm #13252Guys, Aliexpress is going to have the promo action for ADATA SD cards as well as SSDs tomorrow…
http://brands.aliexpress.com/?spm=2114.11010108.24.1.RaRc8f
for some good prices, hope so.
So I think if they will have any 64GB SDHC (i.e. NOT SDXC) card, I will order it to find out whether it makes any difference between SDXC(which I have already) and SDHC.
I also consider it to be a good idea to compile the list of SD cards which are working in both Windows and Android on Teclast and Chuwi tablets.
October 15, 2015 at 12:21 pm #13297So ADATA MicroSD card prices are not that great on Aliexpress promo… (SSD prices are much better though. :-)) More or less same prices could be reached by other dealers too. I am not going to purchase anything from them now.
February 16, 2016 at 12:57 pm #26145Struggling to find a card that can be seen under Windows 10. I have a Sandisk Ultra 32GB SDHC that can be seen with Android. I have tried the same card with Windows, plus the following – Sandisk SDXC 64GB Ultra, SDXC 64GB Extreme Plus, formatted as NTFS, exFAT and FAT32 with no joy. As several here have had success, can we get a list of known working uSD cards for Android *and* Windows 10?
February 16, 2016 at 1:05 pm #26146Quick question, have you upgraded the bios? Maybe that is the only problem?
For info, my card is a samsung 64gb sdxc uhs1 like this but I paid less

March 18, 2016 at 1:56 pm #29922Not a solution but a work around:-
connect the card via a card reader and USB OTG cable.
