    Hello everyone,

my Cube i9 has finally arrived today.
Is there any summary or checklist of things which should be done before starting to use it right out of the box?
After looking through this forum I got the following things:

    • Heatsink Mod – got everything ready for it
    • Install modified BIOS – is it necessary? seems like there are mixed reactions to it
    • Reinstall Windows – should I use the ISO which was provided in the other thread or could install my own version via USB?
    • Install drivers – Driver Package, Intel Graphics Driver,  Realtek Audio from XDA
    • Calibrate Display if necessary

    Did I miss anything?

    Thanks everyone in advance!

Hi Minh, can’t really help you much since I still haven’t gotten my cube, but can you tell me where you got the stuff for the heatsink mod?

I just ordered them on ebay. Here is everything I’ve ordered:

    • Arctic Cooling MX 2 Thermal Paste
    • Thermal pads 120mmx20mmx1mm (cut into 20mmx20mmx1mm)
    • Copper shims 20mmx20mmx1mm

So currently I’ve reinstalled W10 by making a bootable USB stick with Microsofts Media Creation Tool and using the product key from the preinstalled W10. Everything seems to be working fine so far. The only issue I noticed were the phantom clicks but I will look into that today.
I also added a new key in the registry to disable the Windows Key + D gesture.

Touchscreen update is also recommended to fix the windows button issue.

I have no issues with the custom bios, that fixed pwm frequency is no-brainer for me.

I highly recommend using the custom bios if youre doing a thermal mod.

    <hr />

Phantom clicks meaning windows key or screen phantom clicks? I’m having both, although windows key + vibration is nuch more common.

Let me know if you find a solution.

Yea I meant the windows key + vibration. Thought it would be the same but it just happened once since I have it.

Did you experience the phantom clicks on the preinstalled windows?

Sadly no, because I just confirmed that everything works and began to reinstall windows after that.

I just got my cube i9 a few hours ago, wanted to reset it so I can be free of any adware that the vendors might have installed. Ended up failing with me having no OS. Currently reinstalling windows, did your reinstall ask for a product key because I wasn’t able to save mine D:

    That’s bad :/

I used Windows Product Key Viewer to get the key before reinstalling it. Thought that I would need to use my own key but the preinstalled one worked fine.

Good news is my department let me have one of the extra keys we have xD Would you happen to know how to disable vsync? I seem to cap out at 60 fps on icestorm.

Pretty nice of your department 🙂
Sadly I don’t know how to disable it. Did you already perform the heatsink mod? My CPU reached about 64 C°. Does it get hotter while charging?

I haven’t performed the heatsink mod yet, I’m still looking for a metal shop that can cut the exact shape and dimensions of the heatspreader using copper 🙂 Found the designs at xda forums and figured that it should be better than a 20x20mm shim. It does get warm while charging, about 40 degrees celsius or so, while getting to high 60’s under stress tests. It idles at about 30-35 degrees though.

Hi all, I think checklists are a great way to focus on your goals and dreams. I’m a pretty ambitious person and to always know what my next step to success should be, I use the website Cheqmark where you can make yourself a checklist absolutely free with many different templates.

I hope my answer helps you.
