Go to settings and then find the A letter in an logo icon, then change he language from there. The settings menu looks like a gear logo.

If you follow Chris’s instructions it takes you to the Language & Settings menu. You still need to do one more step:
Just click the first option and you will then see the list of languages and you can choose which one to change to.
Note: If you do an android factory data reset the Hi8 defaults to the Chinese language. This happened to me but I have an android phone so I was able to figure out how to navigate the menus to change the Language.
