Chuwi has already announced a new Hi12 packed with Windows 10 and Remix OS, an android desktop OS.
You can already put Remix OS on your Hi12, but it is missing wifi support. I can’t see why dual boot and Win10 models alike wouldn’t be able to install the completed Hi12 optimized Remix OS once it’s released.
There is no release date
May 17, 2016 at 5:51 am #37636Oh, I am not too angry about Remix OS. This is actually the first I have heard of that Android system. I actually like the contrast between Win10/Android 5.1. And Remix OS seems like it is too new to be stable/compatible with apps anyway. To me it just shows Chuwi is trying to be cutting edge. I was more worried about hardware upgrades/fixes. Where did you hear that news about Chuwi? I would like to be more informed.
May 17, 2016 at 7:45 am #37651I seriously doubt there will be upgrade of RAM or screen. 4gb and 12′ are already huge specs for a low end tablet. If there is again hardware, that’s would be for existing bugs like the failling motherboard in the first windows version. But it seems now to be fixed.
As for your concern about Remix os, i can say the OS is perfectly stable [on my teclast x98 plus] and already relatively mature considering the first version . And remix os add a real plus in the perspective of multi-tasking. Once you’re used to it, you don’t want to come back to stock android, which i found immature for tablet use even if adapted for phone.
The only downside is the lack of ability to add widget on the home screen. But some tweaks may allow to add a third party launcher like Nova Launcher in order to enjoy widgets.
My 2 cents.
May 17, 2016 at 9:32 am #37667I think you are absolutely right! I would pay a little more for a little more power but I guess that would be another gamble. I am happy to hear Remix is progressing well. I hope we do get full support in our early model Hi12’s. If not, I will definitely get it on my next phone. It does look pretty awesome. Thanks guys, that is exactly what I wanted to hear! For a tablet under $250, I shouldn’t be looking for ice cream on top of my cake.. LOL
