Yeah, those cheap stylus are pretty useless on modern touch screens that are really tuned to the finger tip. The proper Hipen smart stylus will work but obviously at a price.

Such type of stylus does work on my chuwi, but I have to press hard and a finger works much better.

Although, especially in Android, I’m not really impressed by how responsive my Chuwi’s touch screen is in general.

Could be because of the installed screenprotector, but my impression is that is sensitivity just isn’t as good as any of my phones and tablets so far.

Yeah, I was probably a bit harsh with my comment on the cheap stylus. I tried one on my iPhone and it works fine but is very hit and miss on the Hi12. I guess just not compatible with all digitizers.

I have made a test with another rubber point one…this manages to produce some lines, but just that, and at the cost of a lot of pressure.

I think I will give the HiPen a chance…I hope the screen protector I have installed will not prevent it working. I don’t know if the screen is easily scratchable and do not want to take the risk.

The only positive feature of those cheap styli is not getting smudges on your screen from greasy fingers. For the rest I honestly don’t see any upside using one anyway.

I’ve ordered the HiPen aswell, but from Chris’ review I understand that the factury applied screen protector get scratched very easily with it.

So I’m looking for a tempered glass screen protector, but I’m hesitating. I’m weary of even further decreased sensitivity and, as good quality tempered glass protectors are quite expensive, trying a few out isn’t really an option.

Marc, I am in the exact situation as you! Waiting for my stylus and yet being skeptical about it not damaging the plastic protector…And considering to buy a glass protector. As for the cheap styli…needless to say I also hate them! Enough to say that I own a Samsung Galaxy Note phone, so you can imagine the precision I am used to. The reason I asked about them was that somehow I wanted to try handwriting on my Chuwi and was surprised when I couldn’t other than with my finger. So I thought, maybe my tablet is defective?

Haha, me too. For 5 years with Note 4 my 3rd generation (skipped gen 2). Besides that I own a Surface Pro (1), which I regularly use with OneNote for making notes.

So I’m “spoiled” concerning accuracy & responsiveness but also very curious how de HiPen will work with my Chuwi. This 3:2 12″ screen will give me a larger canvas to write on.

I just tried to write something with my finger (in a drawing app). Works with my Chuwi without any problems.

With the ‘cheap stylus’ it works aswell, but again only with pressing hard.

My cheap rubber stylus works fine with a modified file TouchSetting.gt from here

Replace the file in the folder C:\Windows\INF and reboot.
    But first, save yours.

Actually the bit disappointing touch sensitivity I’ve been talking about here is in Android
