Hey,
I bought myself a chuwi hi8 pro. i really like the tablet. altough 1 thing is a bit off, the audio quality is verry bad. and i am not talking about the speakers. when i plug in earphones i hear a little static (not a real problem) but when i listen to music or watch a movie it seems the audio is off. voices are really really low and other soudns really really high. Even simple youtube commercials, i hear the music of the commercial but not what they are saying.
I tested this with several earphones both on my phone, pc and tablet, i am not sure if this is normal. can you guys confirm you have this with your tablets aswel. or did i recieve a faulty tablet?
thx,
simonpro
March 3, 2016 at 7:35 pm #27906Just tested on my own Hi8 Pro, with some 6 years old Nokia phone headphones that were lying around, sure, some minor static is there, but sound is as good as it can be.
Maybe your sound matrix is off due to whatever reason?
If you want, I can try testing exact videos you’ve tested for direct comparison.
March 4, 2016 at 5:26 pm #28003Hey,
thanks for your reply, i tried it a bit more, and with some fiddling i found out that all the earphones i used have microphones built in, and i think the audiosocket on the tablet is just a 3,5 stereo socket, so when i plugged the earphones in all the way it doesnt work that wel, but if i plug in like almost all the way, boom normal working sounds.. Now i am not sure if this is normal, maybe my socket is broke but atm the moment it is working. I tried contacting chuwi about this i am still waiting on a reply.
Thx,
simonpro

May 21, 2016 at 3:13 pm #38134Just found out I have the same issue with my hi8 pro that I had not tested as a music player yet in the 3 weeks or so since I’ve had it.
The fiddling around with the jack to get full stereo sound is not an acceptable solution. This is a serious design flaw/manufacturing fault, or extremely bad quality control.
Besides bad battery life, sleep of death, awful cameras, awful speaker, this leaves me to wonder if I should ship back the tablet.
buyer beware.
