I agree with Glenn. The legality of the image method is questionable.

Even if you want to use the flashing method, first upgrade to Windows 10 with the Media Creation Tool and then flash the image – this way Windows 10 will reactivate itself.

I don’t remember how, but I also managed Windows to put the Windows.old recovery directory on the USB drive thus saving me precious  space on my Chuwi hard drive.

    Hi guys,

new to the forum (as you can see) and my new Tablet. I bought the Vi8 Ultra here in the UK and wanted to upgrade to Windows 10. I have a few questions:

    • If I were to decide on using the recovery image method; would the Hi8 image work (…as the only different noted in your videos is the screen res) and will it remove the Android functionality by default until re-enabled by installing the OS Switcher?
    • Roni Alush; are there ANY downsides to performing the upgrade the official way via the install tool?
    • If everything goes horribly wrong; where can I get the original images for the Vi8u/Hi8 from?

    Thanks,

    Hi Mario,

Bacause of the limited spce on these kinds of tablets, I think the best method is to do a clean install with Windows media creation tool. I chose to do it with a USB memory stick because it’s faster than the MicroSD card. You can check my earlier post to see the step it took me to install.

Note that installation process can be slow, and look like it’s get stuck – so be patient.

    Hi guys,

I was able to upgrade to win10 with Roinis method. Win10 is activated and updates worked out fine. Everything is working except for the touch panel. I’ve done the double driver restore and also copied the driver in the system32 folder with a restart. But in the calibration it is still not working. On almost every tip there appearing two points on the screen. Any thoughts?

    Greetings

Happened to me too. The touch driver from tt download page should solve it. I searched for the link now but for some reason I couldn’t find it. It was there a week ago. Strange…

Sorry. I. Could not find it. Maybe I deleted it or I don’t remember where I saved it. Try again the downloads page maybe I missed it, or try this:

Thx Roni, now everything is working. One last question: After the install of win10 I got a 12 GB folder which is called Windows.old (obviously the win 8.1). Can I just delete it or is there a clean way to get rid of it?

    Greetings

    I deleted my windows.old folder – Windows 10 doesn’t need it.

Edit: Via Disk Cleanup / Clean up System Files

You shouldn’t delete it by hand, rather use the disk cleanup tool. Right click on C:/ -> disk cleanup, tap delete system files, wait until it counts the files` size, make sure you checked all the possible files to remove before you tap delete!

Deleting it by hand could lead to problems.

    Hello,

I need help with the activation. What I did: I totaly crashed the tabletending an a bootloop. Afterwards I installed the here provided Win 10 Image (the one in 5 parts). Everythings works, but the activation doesn’t.

I tried this (found here: http://bbs.chuwi.com/thread-960-1-1.html):

Open cmd.exe administrator runs the following command
    slmgr / ipk TX9XD-98N7V-6WMQ6-BX7FG-H8Q99
    slmgr / skms kms.xspace.in
    slmgr / ato

    But it says:

    Error Code: 0xC004F074

Error discription: The Software licensing Service reported that the product could not be activated. No Key Management Service (KMS) could be contacted. Please see the Appclication Event Log for additional information.

Please can some one help me???

To activate windows using this method you need to make sure your tablet has an internet connection and that you have the correct date and time for your selected timezone.   If not, this error is likely to occur.

Thanks for your answer! But it doesn’t work. The time was incorrect, but corecting it doesn’t help.

I think the problem is, that my previous Windows installation crashed, so that I didn’t come from an activated Win 8.1. But I didn’t find a way to install 8.1 which is activated ( I don’t understand the installationinstructions for win 8.1 provided in the downlad section, cause it is in chinese).

    Anyone can help me?

    Roni,

How did you install Insyde after a clean win10 install.

I’m not sure what program to run?

    DualOSConfigTool.exe
    DualOSInstaller.exe
    DualOSService.exe
    DualOSSwitcher.exe

    Thanks.
