Chuwi Surbook – Which charger ?

Hi,

I received my Chuwi Surbook and I am really happy about it. I wanted to use it also in the office so I thought to buy a second charger.

I ordered the following one :

But it doesn’t work with the CHUWI Surbook!

I also tried to use other charger, none of them worked. Only the original one provided by Chuwi.

What is your experience and could somebody recommend a charger which works with the Surbook?

Other chargers will work. The one that you mention is the same spec as the one I got from Gearbest:

This charger works on the Surbook, but the Type C socket on the Surbook case is recessed & at a very slight angle.

You have to get a male to female Type C adapter and cut back the plastic part of male plug about 1.5 mm so that the metal part is as long as the male end of the Chuwi charger lead. You get something like this:

Then carefully cut back the plastic to make the metal plug a little longer, same length as the Chuwi charger. This works & I can use the Xiaomi 45W charger.

Agreed. The problem is not the charger. There are many compatible chargers. The issue is the USB C plug that goes into the SurBook’s USB C port. Because of the recessed angle, there needs to be more exposed metal on the plug (or less plastic, to look at it from the other direction) for the plug to insert properly into the SurBook.

You could try the “shave plastic off the adapter” method or look for a USB C cable where the plug is longer (more of the metal connector exposed).
