Hi Eytan,
I think I came across the same problems as yours. Charging the tablet when ON, it charges very slow, actually not charging at all! I can charge the tablet only when is OFF. I hope someone else can suggesta fix or workaround.
Did you try to ask Chuwi directly?
NOTE: I am not using the original 5V 2A charger in the box, but another one that is 5.35V 2A, but the same behaviur shows when plugged to an USB 3 port from my desktop.
March 26, 2016 at 2:51 am #30901Maybe you can fix it by upgrading your firmware.
March 26, 2016 at 12:05 pm #30921I also had a battery problem with the Vi8 plus I ordered. While the first few hours the tablet was being charged, orange light blinked contiuously, but then it stopped. I was never able to turn the thing on.
FYI, a Hi8 user on this blog reports to have solved the issue by resoldering the battery connection.
http://www.majordroid.com/how-to-repair-a-chinese-tablet-which-wont-turn-on-or-charge/Do you think this method can work? If there’s hope, I can settle with a partial refund and avoid the hassle sendin the item to China.
March 28, 2016 at 7:12 pm #31131Hi, i also observe the exactly same behaviour. My tab charges at any charger with 2A at 1,5a until Windows boots up. It then Switches to 0,5a as yours does. It seems to be a Windows acpi Driver issue, a fw update didnt Change a thing.

I don’t know how, but my problem has been fixed. I managed to upgrade the graphic card driver with Intel upgrade utility. Strangely, Intel utility has downgraded my driver, passing from v. 20 to v. 15. Soon after, windows update has reinstalled the updated driver and now the tablet charges when on, giving about 3 hours estimated for a complete charge, screen at 50% and WiFi on.
I have also unchecked the gpu saving battery life during game (from the Intel graphic panel)

April 22, 2016 at 9:08 pm #34716I have another issue: battery is discharged after some days power off. How much time would it takes the battery goes to 0% from 100% if the tablet is power off?
April 23, 2016 at 7:03 pm #34818something about 3hours
