    I just got my Chuwi Vi8 Plus a couple of days ago and have had time to figure out it’s various quirks;
        – Can’t install 64bit Win10 due to 32bit UEFI BIOS
    – Headphone jack was chirping and clicking static – different earphones worked 100% with no more interference
    So I was curious about my tablets guts and popped the hood.
    I can see the 32GB SSD chip and four RAM chips. The installed RAM chips are “Kingston D2516EC4BXGGB” (see attached image).
    I looked up these chips and was shocked when the datasheet says they are 4GB chips, but that would mean there’s 16GB of ram installed. Whaaaat?
    If this is true, why does the system only report 2GB RAM? (I know about 32bit limit etc). Where is the other 14GB?
    Has this been locked down by the bios to only allow 2GB?
    Also, if this is true, why would they put more chips on their motherboards than the intended use-able amount?
    And wouldn’t this cost them more to produce per unit?
    Am I missing something here?

    Hmmm, well after further investigating I realise I may have mistaken G-bits for G-bytes.

    This would mean they are 512MB chips, which would make sense.
