Ive tested toschiba canvio 750gb and some Seagate 500gb. Both worked fine. Ive checked this with usbc and usb 3.1. Check how much amp your hard drive needs.

Check how much amp your hard drive needs.

They need DC5V/0.9A, which appears to be virtually the same as the Toshiba drive (5V/1A?) based on a quick search for that one.

Hmm, should be fine. Maybe you messed something in bios? Try to plug hard drive when cube is pluged to charger.

Yeah, I’ve tried it when plugged in, no luck. They also don’t show up in the Disk Management or Device Manager tools when plugged in, despite loading and working fine on other devices.

I haven’t changed any bios settings on the tablet yet, though I might start having a poke around in there in the near future to see if there’s anything obvious that’s causing this specific issue. Thanks for the suggestions, anyway.

It depends on how much dock can provide and how much your hdd needs. If cube is pluged to charger or battery is full or almost full, hdd via dodocool 7in1 works fine with toschiba canvio. But as soon as amount of power drops, cube cant keep it up. Its because toschiba needs 5V 1A, and dodocool can provide 5V and 0.9A. You can try to find a bit more efficient hdd so it might work in any case.  All of this is refered to usbtype C and 7in1 hub. When hdd is used with usb3.1 hdd works fine even if the battery is low.

I’d take 15 minutes as a good start at this point!

Sadly not for me, I still haven’t had any luck with it. I’m planning to borrow a couple of different HDDs from friends and see if I can get any of them to show up at all.
