I converted to Win only.  To do this, I flashed an academic copy of Windows from my university as a clean install.  Have the drivers handy because nothing is supported other than USB drives, even the SD card reader was not functional.  The machine is currently mostly functional.  The main irritant is that the touchscreen does not recover from sleep.  There is something wrong with HID — it detects 16 HID-Compliant consumer control devices and four HID-compliant system controllers and a bunch of other things, including two touchscreens.  This doesn’t seem right even though no device reports an error and the touchscreen works if I reboot.

I plan to go on the win insider and update beyond 10240 that I’m currently running.

There has been a how-to posted on the Teclast BBS to convert dual boot X98 Plus to Windows only.

It is a bit hard to follow some of it but if you are used to reading stuff with Google translate you should be ok!

***** I have not tried it as I have a Windows only A5C6. I am only providing info, that’s it! ******

***** Proceed at your own risk *****

    Thanks for the attachment madmax.

Honestly, I fail to understand why would you prefer Windows over Android. I guess it would be Microsoft office or work related software.. Casual surfing the web is just so much better on Android.. And there are no ads! ( if you root).  Edge works pretty smooth but the so many ads reminds me of darker times.

I do like to have both operating systems and I set both perfectly but I find myself having easier time on Android.. It just feels more tablet friendly and faster.

I have a Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 8.0 for couch surfing, the small form factor is more comfortable for that IMHO.

The Teclast Dual Boot system is a mess that brings with it more problems than it’s worth. The amount of problems that people have been having over the single system has doubled if not tripled. You can barely do a Windows update with a clean tablet, let alone one with some games, apps loaded. To each his own! It is good to have options.

Well, I agree with most of the stuff you said , with the exception of the device has more problems.
Every China -Tab is a  mini-project when it arrives.. Took me a week and everything is perfect. No issues on Win or Android now.
Yes, 128GB would have been better but this tablets is not powerful enough to run big games anyway.. Windows update is not a problem and for upgrade you can just install from a 4GB flash drive.
But sure, to each his own.

I use my Plus mostly as a low power windows desktop replacement to my 800 watt gaming desktop much the same as Chris does with his windows mini computer. I use a mouse and keyboard most of the time, so the touch issues with windows is a moot point for me. I have always been a fan of things that are simple and uncomplicated and the partition stucture of the A5C8 is certainly not that!

    I get it.
I see that you’re using Chrome. Did you find a way to make it work faster?  Edge is super smooth but the lack of AdBlock is really tough..

Chrome was very choppy but the March 1st windows update seemed to fix it. It is almost as smooth as edge now.

Really?  Can you test it using touch to verify?  I get an extremely choppy experience there..

I’m using the latest Windows version and the latest version of Chrome.. Scrolling is very laggy when using touch.

Works fine for me. Are you using the Intel video drivers or the latest ones that update with device manager?

Which are the latest ones? And how does one get them?

Go to device manager and click video devices. Update driver tab….check for update. There has been no update in a while so you probably have the latest. I usually check this every few days.

    my driver is 20.19.15.4331 (18-NOV-2015).

There are newer drivers on the intel website but I can’t install them.. The intel update tool downloads the drivers and then while installing it says my CPU is not supported.
