    Hi,

To answer your questions best I can having used both.

    1. Yes both charge when in use, but if you game and have the brightness at 100% the Atom will loose charge. THe i7 Book charges much quicker via Type-C mine can charge at 14 Watts and very quickly.

    2. Yes it can from the MicroUSB and dock ports.

    3. It’s not much lower 1920 x 1200 on the iwork10 Vs 1920 x 1080 is barely noticeable the difference. The i7 Book screen is one of the best 1080p panels I’ve seen and it was good enough to be used in the Microsoft Surface Pro 2. It’s also much brighter with better colors I feel.

    4. Its more than twice as fast the i7 book, the Atom X5 Z8300 is much slower but it can handle light tasks. Edge works well for youtube. But if you plan to use Chrome, the Atom’s don’t handle it very well and you get stutters with 1080p 60fps videos in Chrome. 4k clips in Chrome is very choppy on the Atom.

On the otherhand the Core M3, plays 4k Youtube or 1080p 60fps in Chrome with ease. Also the dual band wifi is much quicker and BT mice and keyboards don’t slow wifi like on the iwork10 with it’s wireless N realtek. I have tried to use a Z8300 as my main device and it works well, but when I need that extra bit of multitasking and power I always end up going back to a Core M tablet.

Thanks a lot. I think the i7 book is probably the way to go.

The i7 stylus also looks like great value with this price drop. May be worth considering also.

I ended up going with the Cube i7 Book.

    1. Charge Times: I was really concerned about the charge times via Micro USB. There seems to be a real migration away from using a dedicated DC jack rather than USB charging. The i7 book always has the fallback option to charge via usb Type-C. I’ve never met a USB cable I cannot destroy. Plus I’m bad enough with the connectors themselves. I have destroyed 2 phone’s USB ports, I have great reservations about the connectors. They vary in the degree of difficulty in replacing eg. Galaxy Note/ S phone series – It is just a simple board on a popular phone series – the part is easy and cheap. A miscelanious tablet? I have never done surface mount soldering… It requires a LOT of skill. Basically if you kill the USB port – It can still be charged.
    2. USB 3.0/3.1 in the i7 Book vs USB 2.0 in the iWork 10. TYPE-C does not NECESSARILY EQUAL USB 3.0/3.1
    3. Core M is very powerful (basically a low power i3) vs Atom
    4. Unlocked BIOS/ UEFI : I want to play around with linux distributions. I don’t know why Intel shoots itself in the foot and locks bootloaders/BIOS! This REALLY put me off Cherry Trail. You can even boot to SD on the i7 book!

For me there was no real comparison.

However Windows 10 is not the best tablet OS. Without a keyboard/mouse navigation can be awkward sometimes.

Android has had several years to refine itself to “touch only” interface.

I use emulators which seem to work reasonably well (not perfect)

I have NOT managed to successfully have native – Android x86 work.

I have booted into Android 4.4 r5. Touch screen drivers didn’t work. –

    Android 6: Command prompt.

Remix OS: On boot it seems to hang. However there is a warning that it may not work with slow SD/USB drives (less than 10 Mbps).

Also the instructions don’t say BOOT. It does say install from windows.

Albeit I have had Remix OS successfully boot on another (non UEFI) device
