to shorten the post, i love everything the cube i9 offers…. but the cube i7 book performs better
August 28, 2016 at 10:27 am #48280i went for the book,i wanted the bigger screen in the i9 but found out its plastic, and i wanted ac in wireless and all the power i could get on a budget, plus the book seems to be cheaper,so for a smaller screen then i wanted the book seems to me to be the better tablet
August 28, 2016 at 5:31 pm #48306I purchased the i7 Book – The Intel wireless AC/Bluetooth persuaded me. For its range/reliability over the Realtek rubbish that the previous Core M i7 had.
Full size USB 3.0(i9) is nice vs mini 3.0 (i7)
The i9 has a second m2 slot internally if you want to add an additional SSD OR insert a m2 3G/4G LTE card.
I liked that idea in theory. But they’re not cheap. Plus my SIM card is restricted to 3g. So for me it wouldn’t really benefit for up to $200 just to add 4G…
Someone in the i7 book forum was playing with CPU speed (after the copper heatsink mod). I’ve found with other devices (galaxy s3 vs Note 2 same CPU but that small increase in space can allow for better heat dissipation and higher CPU clock).
I can’t SAY for certain if that is the case here
BUT the Core M 6y30 is rated @ up to 2.2 Ghz
Cube/ The BIOS is clocking these down for thermal reasons.
TechTablets videos talk quite a bit about this for the i7 Book – including thermal mods.

Yeah there’s quite a lot of reasons why I chose the i7 book. But metal is not one of them. I HATE metal in phones, laptops and tablets.
Plastic like Polycarbonate gets a lot of criticism for “looking cheap” but it has much better shock absorption properties. I’ve broken metal phones within a week. Dented laptops and tablets from dropping them.
My Samsung Galaxy Note 2. – Plastic – Is still going after nearly 4 years. – It is a very well made device. I’ve broken the screen about 3 years ago and I keep it because the glass stays in. I’ve had an iPhone and other phones with broken screens and I’ve never seen such integrity in the glass holding together after broken.
It is a testament to amazing engineering and materials science.
Bullet proof glass after all is – POLYCARBONATE.
Plastic drink bottles – might not look pretty but they last.
Aluminium? Bends/ dents easily.
Unfortunately its a basic ‘law’ of design:
People are attracted to blue things, and SHINY things.
