I was able to update my Cube i9 to Windows 11 almost without problems.

First I run the compability checker from Microsoft and to my suprise only the CPU generation was a problem. CPU speed, memory and TPM2.0 was all OK so I used the registry entry to allow an override (https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/ways-to-install-windows-11-e0edbbfb-cfc5-4011-868b-2ce77ac7c70e)

I did a clean install and quite soon I had Windows 11 running. Device manager reported a number of unknown devices. At first I did not realize that Windows 11 does not list “optional updates” together with the normal updates – you have to choose “advanced option” and then you’ll see the optional ones. In my case there where 19 optional updates, including a number of Realtek and Intel drivers. After I installed all of them I only have 2 unknown devices in the Device manager. Unfortunatelly the camera is one of the devices not working, but everything else seems to work ok, including WiFi, Bluetooth and the accelerometer that switches between portrait and landscape mode as you turn the tablet.

The two unknown devices where indeed the front and back cameras (OmniVision 2680 and 5648). Fortunatelly Lenovo has a device with the same camera configuration so I downloaded a Win10 64-bit driver from their page: https://pcsupport.lenovo.com/nl/en/products/Tablets/Miix-Series/miix-510-12-isk/downloads/DS119912

Works like a charm. Well, actually, the selfie camera is pretty bad but that is not the driver’s fault.

Now I have a Cube i9 running Windows 11 with every feature working as far as I can tell. Pretty impressive considering the age and price of the device.
