i think £23.50 is expensive for buying cheap tablet, even if it’s legal charge.
normally DHL will charge $30(£23.50 ) if you are living in countryside (remote area).
you can check here :Search For Remote Area – DHL: http://raslist.dhl.com/jsp/first.jsp
select your country and input your postal code. and click ok.
if displayed ‘The location you have selected is not a remote area or is not a valid selection.’ , you don’t need extra fee.
if displayed ‘The following are Remote Areas based on your choice of selection.’, you will be charged $30.
i don’t know exactly the rule of your country ,but at least this method useful in japan.
how much extra fee you willbe charged. that’s depend on where you want delivery ,not where you living now.
so if your family or close friend living in big city(not remote area), you may avoid extra fee for using their address. also you need to go to receive package after delivery.
Most of chinese website to try avoid extra tax for their customer . they declare value and name as phone or tablet under $50-90 . because most of country tax item over than $100.
that can avoid to import duties and consumption tax, but can’t avoid delivery extra fee.
May 11, 2016 at 11:40 pm #36895Thank you for the link to the DHL site, my village is not a remote area, also the airport where the package will be landing is only 15 miles from where I live, I do agree that the charge is a little high ffor a cheap tablet, I will question DHL and ask for the break down of the charge to try and work out how is this calculated.
Thank you for the info.
May 11, 2016 at 11:52 pm #36899I always have to pay 21% IVA and 15 euros processing fee on my tablets from DHL. Seems about right to me. It is a rip off. Often I pay about 41 euros / 32 GBP.

Next up for review:
Ordered and waiting for my: BMAX S15 & Teclast F6 Plus
Currently testing: LG G8X & Redmi K30May 12, 2016 at 9:44 pm #37041Totally agree it is a rip off, I have had many items from abroad and China where about 99% of the time I have never been charged anything, however the few times I have used DHL I was always charged this tax.
I guess that DHL charge this cost regardless whether or not they are charged themselves by customs, how else would we explain that 100% of the time that I have used them was aleays charged custom tax.
May 13, 2016 at 3:07 am #37086i’m sorry my info was’t useful for you.
£23.50, 21% IVA and 15,41 euros ? it seems quite expensive for me .
i bought RC Quadcopters from banggoods before , selected free shipping.
there were no extra charged but it took almost 1 month to delivery.
so long time .. because 3- hours flight from china to japan.
i heard Fedex and DHL much faster , 2-6days to delivery.
i want to always choose Fedex or DHL if it’s not extra charge (delivery cost only $12)
anyway, dear Chris, i’m waiting for your review of Hibook 🙂
i’m thinking about to buy Hibook or Cube iwork10 ,this month.
