Disabling One drive after Win 10 Home edition update

If like me you want to save your music and documents on your SD card so had one drive disabled…. but saw the bad surprise after updating your system this month with the Home edition that brought back the Document and pictures folder to synch with the goddam painintheb*tt onedrive…
Then here is how to disable it completly and how to relocate all the user folders (pictures, document, music, download etc) at your SD card (D:) to spare C: drive space.

First get a clean SD card that works with android and Windows and plan to use it only with the tablet.

here’s the process to follow :

1) Making ready your SD Card

Go to windows settings/System/Storage, in Save locations change New documents, New music, New pictures and New videos to save to your SD card (D:) and click apply every time.

This should create into your SD card, a “username” folder with all the document,pics,music etc folder in it.

You can also create now a Downloads folder under your SD card that we will use in the 3rd section of this tutorial. make sure to name it under your username folder and like this: Downloads

At this point it’s better to restart to whipe all the registeries from win 10 and minimize the mistakes.

2) Disabling Onedrive :

a >> in the taskbar , right click the onedrive cloud icon and open settings, then in the settings tab untick all the box under General.

b >> under the auto save tab choose this PC only for Documents and Pictures lists. and then untick all the other box

 WARNING : The next step delete all your OneDrive folder from your computer but they still are online on onedrive.com for those who has been synched offcourse. i never used Onedrive on my X16Power so this wasn’t a problem for me

c>> under the Account tab, click on Choose folder and untick all the box there,

Click OK to close this inner dialog box and go back to settings, click OK again to save the modifications in the main Settings dialog box.

d >> Open again the Onedrive settings (rightclick from taskbar) and go to the Account tab then click on Unlink OneDrive and close the “Welcome to OneDrive” dialog box that pops up.

e >> In windows explorer right click on the OneDrive icon and open the Properties and the General tab, at the bottom in the attributes, tick Hidden to hide OneDrive from explorer.

click Apply and OK

f >> A last time in the notification bar right click on OneDrive icon and click quit, to delete it from the there once for all.

in Windows explorer you should see the green synching icones over your folders are gone.

At this point it’s better to restart to whipe all the registeries from win 10 and minimize the mistakes.

3) Settings Explorer’s folders location to the SD card folders

Open windows explorer  open This PC list and repeat the process bellow for each folders.

exemple with “Documents”

a >> right click on Documents , click Properties

b >> go to the Location tab, click teh button Move…  and select the path of your SD card’s Documents folder (D:\”username”\Documents), click Apply and choose to move all the files to your SD card by cliking YES.

Repeat the process for Pictures, Videos, Music and Downloads restart a last time your PC and voilà you are done!
