    Hi guys –

I am new here but have read and watched Chris’ reviews for a few months now (and yes, I have donated :-). Glad this site and its community exist for us China gadget enthusiasts.

I was using an Onda v989 v3 for about year now and wanted a new 10 inch tablet (got a Chuwi Hi8 recently as well) – so I gave the X98 Pro a shot; so far I am not too happy with it. Especially with the overall stability of the Lollipop rom – I do have frequent long lags and Nova (Prime) keeps crashing regularly … the worst thing, though is the missing DRM plug-ins so that I cannot access eg. Google Movies. Did you experience this as well? “Widevine” is completely missing from my machine, for example – the apparently widest used DRM format?

Do you have any idea how I can get that “installed” and whether there’s a more stable launcher than Nova (which runs very well on anything else I own/ed)?

Thanks a lot in advance for any help,

    Frank

*bump* Nobody else having problems with Android on the X98 Pro then? This “Widevine” DRM issue drives me crazy. I did a factory reset today which took very long (after it initially failed) – the tablet did reboot three times before it finally came back (I thought I had bricked it).

    Thanks!

    F

Just downloading google play movies to check on mine will post back in a min

Edit “playback isn’t supported on this device” yea that is annoying. I use netflix and prime video which both work fine though. Really hoping for a custom rom as there is more missing from this rom including support for controllers

Thanks so much, Chris – I am glad that it isn’t just me. “Widevine” is apparently an integrated DRM – how come Teclast was able to leave it out of their Android rom? It also seems the Teclast launcher is suppressing other launcher apps. I cannot activate Google Now, though Nova was activatable (again) and now seems to run better …

Guess I just have to wait for a better Android rom and use Windows instead … I begin to miss my Onda v989 …

I’ve noticed on my Chuwi Hi12 there’s no ability to download shows for offline viewing. I wonder if it’s got anything to do with DRM as mentioned here: http://forum.chuwi.com/thread-3625-1-1.html

This is a pretty big failing IMO.
