Hi there, reading the post(s) over and over again I’m a little confused/unsure: Is it exactly the same for V5?

Don’t want to brick it 😉

Please remember this is a modded V6 bios. i used it for the EZBook 3 Pro v4 with v6 bios (dated 5dec17). I do not take any responsibility whatsoever…

    Have you flashed a V6 over a V4? Mmh, that’s risky

Well. The bios is v6. The hardware is a at least v4, as it was advertised.  But I think the hardware id is not important here. Meaning I have a bios v6 dated 5 Dec 17. And just modded that backup I made.

Oh ok, so you already had a V6 BIOS.
    Nevermind, I misunderstood

    Hail to Giovanni!

….still I could need some advice: Maybe I’m too stupid, but I already fail at the first step, exactly like Patrick.

In UEFI shell, for “AFU…efi backup.rom /O” I get an error about the file to write, in Windows the WinGUI programm doesn’t start at all.

When I go for a command line (cmd as admin) and try “afuwin…exe backup.rom /O” I get a failed to load driver

Any advice what’s wrong here (v5 BIOS, Win 10, SSD installed but not working properly, very crippled BIOS)?

    Thanks a lot!

Okay, figured out at least parts of it:

In the UEFI shell, “fs1” (C: where I copied the AfuEFI file to) is mounted read only!
Backing up the rom to “fs0:” instead did the trick

Still I don’t know why the Windows tool doesn’t work – and I need to copy the rom file back from my EFI partition…..

in case you’re also at this point already:

    ‘enter cmd as admin’
    mountvol s: /S
    s:
    xcopy backup.rom c:\

    (adjust names accordingly if necessary)

About the AFUWINGUIx64 in Windows… maybe a silly advice, but… the zipped folder has to be unzipped before you can use the tool.

    Try the attached version.

I figured that ou myself 🙂

    Try the attached version.

This one works. In the tool package I downloaded the .sys file was missing. That’s why it could not start the program. If I add the sys to the other folder it works….maybe worth an update of the zip provided at the beginning? I don’t think that there is an issue with my 7zip.

Hey ho – thanks again from Germany!

I’ve just successfully updated/flashed my v5 BIOS and now I see all the options that where missing  – great job guys and thanks for the tutorial.

Still I can’t use my SSD properly. It’s an Intel 240GB, Windows’ device manager detects it as SSDSCKKW240H6, but it cannot be formatted and it does not appear in the BIOS as a boot option. Very confusing….

So far I checked the AHCI setting (was/is present) and went through basically all other options without spotting anything helpful. Also I think Windows bootup was wuite slow, but this may be due to updates running in the background, I’ll have to monitor that. Although any hints are appreciated,  I’ll try to figure it out somehow, since I don’t want to hijack your BIOS-thread.

    Thanks again!

@kean3D, there are some blind reset tutorial, which can reset the BIOS or you open your computer and unplug the battery. Also have you tried to connect an external monitor? Maybe you could upload the bios file you created, so someone can check.

Btw, it is normal that you get back to the locked bios from uefi if you got there from the locked bios. The bios will only be reloaded when you reboot, so the changes will first appear after you rebooted.
