EzBook 3 Pro Linux Support?

I’ve read in a few threads that some people have success with Linux, while others had trouble running Linux on this machine.

I’d like to get it to do some light coding as I travel for about a month later this year. Preferably I have something cheap & light with me to be able to do simple tasks, so I don’t have to worry about the laptop being damaged or having to carry around my heavy ThinkPad T430.

For those that have had success installing Linux, what Distro are you using and what method of installation did you perform? And what are some features that don’t work? Wifi/Touchpad not working are complete deal breakers… I can deal with no Bluetooth (I don’t own any Bluetooth device myself), and maybe even no audio.

Hi,

as I write in more threads here and there on TechTablets, with little experience and effort , you should be able to install and run Linux on EzB 3 Pro.

And  on my version 2 (M.2 slot present, without ac wifi), wifi works with custom driver, touchpad works with like 3 commands in terminal, audio works out of the box, special Fn+ keys work out of the box. Card reader works out of the box. Bluetooth doesn’t work, but I live happily without it, but I think it should be possible to make it run, I just didn’t dig deeper, because it wasn’t my priority.

I installed Lubuntu, and after some time I hopped onto Manjaro bandwagon. I use Xface desktop now. Dualboot with factory Win 10.

Hi,

I am using Arch Linux. With Ulrics Tips the touchpad works. The rest worked out of the box.

Only Grub doesn’t work for the EzBook.

I have the version with wireless AC and SSD-Slot.

For those wanting to try using Manjaro Linux (which is based on Arch) and you have that black screen bootup problem, you might want to try installing using Manjaro-Architect. A few more comments…
If you hit that bootup problem with black/blank screen and blinking cursor, try using the “nomodeset” kernel start parameter as explained in the Linux Mint 18.2 release notes “Solving freezes” tip.
