Anyone? Not a single programmer on this forum? 😀
September 6, 2017 at 8:00 pm #71675I just ordered for that purpose. Just to make some quickfixes to apps while i am on the go. I think it will be ok for Git, webstorm, vscode, atom, etc. For visual Studio i think it s pushing the envelope too much. l let you know how it performes.. And if it sucks, i can allways install Kodi and plug it permanente to my TV.

That would be great!
I guess it would work fine when using smaller projects and not many add ons. Compil time might be a bit slower though but the actual program is probably quick. Don’t know if they use GPU acceleration aswell?
September 6, 2017 at 11:18 pm #71684I am also a developer. My goal is to have Linux (preferably a light version of Ubuntu, Xubuntu) running on the Ezbook 3 Pro and also coding with Visual Studio Code + Node.js. It will be great if you can try that out!
September 7, 2017 at 8:40 am #71688It may take some time to arrive, but once i put my hands on it, i’ll post my findings here. I wouldn’t use it as my primary development machine of course, because, yes, Node,js will definetely be slow, Typespit transpile will also not be great especially if you have a medium size project. Those ide´s dont use Gpu acelleration Kalle, but you might be developing for WebGl and it will also be fine.
September 7, 2017 at 6:12 pm #71729I’ve only had the laptop for a few days and not really spent much time using but bought the machine for web development mainly. I have installed Visual Studio, NodeJS and cloned some git projects and so far so good. As Paulo mentioned it takes a bit longer to install dependencies through Yarn/NPM but seems more than usable for NodeJS projects.
It will definitely struggle with processor heavy tasks e.g. compiling etc. but it’s also a 1/10th the cost of an XPS13!

Okay but the auto predict in for example Visual Studio is quick enough that you won’t get irritated? What about compiling a mid sized project, how long does it take? 🙂

Kalle, Have you tried visual studio (2017) with mid size projects? Is’t responsible or flustraring slow? Auto predict, build speed, debugging, resharper?
October 8, 2017 at 8:56 am #73166Hi, yeah I have been using it for about a week now. I would say that’s totally okay for me. Starting Visual Studio takes alot of time(even on SSD), maybe 10-25 seconds. But when it has been loaded, it’s pretty snappy. Build times are fine, I would say that I have mainly tested out small to midsize projects. If you have something specific in mind, send a github link that I can make some kind of benchmark on to let you know. I have disabled animations and stuff and don’t use any extensions at the moment. I would say that the performance is better then I expected but still maybe a bit too weak for some people. It really depends on the type of projects that you work with.
I have also tried some projects in IntelliJ and that works perfectly fine. Visual Studio is a pretty heavy IDE imo.
