fibocom L810 LTE modem.

so ive been doing some research for my usb mod for this tablet, and it looks like the pads on the pcb match up with those on the fibocom L810 which is the same modem as the X1 pro  (well acording to the released photos of the internals of the X1)

 

this modem supports usb3 comunication, so i will see if those ports are wired up at the same time as testing the usb2 pins.  with any luck, i might be able to add a USB3 port to the tablet.  if it works out (will do this at the same time as doing the cpu themals) i’ll post up a how to video, and high res photos of the process.   this will most likley be in 7 days when the thémal pads and copper plates rock up in the post.

Hello William,

sounds very intersting. I already orderes my X98Pro (win10 only) at Gearbest.

Hopefully it will be arrived next week or one week later.

I have some ideas to improve the cooling. Will post ist too.

what ideas do you have for cooling?

i was thinking of getting a large piece of copper to stick on the cpu, but i couldnt find anywhere in my area that sells copper plate.  but ill keep looking.

 

a large piece of 1.5mm copper plate, with a thin high quality thermal pad on top of it would work well.

My ideal is first using copper peace to level cpu, gpu to same

and than put a big coper plate on it and drill a lot  of 1mm in the

backcover. Hopefully by CNC machine.

I’m thinking this will help to improve the cooling.

But first I need ti receive my one.

In worst case I will cut out a bige area, giving the copper acces to air.
