    Must we root the device?

    Yes, the root is necessary.

With any app for file exploring, such as Es File Explorer, you must edit build.prop in /system directory.

Locate “ro.build.version.release=4.4.4” and change to “ro.build.version.release=5.0.0”.

Or if you want to make it easier, install from play store Build Prop Editor and edit with it in a second.

Reboot and that’s it, pretty simple 😉

    hi man,

i tried what you post with the app  “build prop editor” and i found the location of “ro.build.version.release=4.4.4” and change to “ro.build.version.release=5.0.0”. but the app wants me to restart the chuwi hi8 but i dont have button restart.

i shutdown the chuwi and when i go back to the app,i see its go back to “4.4.4”

    what can i do?
