I finally took the plunge and flashed a new ROM, the Mirek 190 V6.0 rom. I was looking for some comprehensive instructions on how to do this but always fell short until I ran into this page http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=61852850&postcount=10160. This uses the Intel Manufacturing Flash Tool and was very easy, just install the drivers, run the tool, load the rom and wait. On my X98 Air II, the Mirek V6.0 ROM is so much better than stock it’s not funny. The tablet is much more stable and battery life is extended. It now feels like a real tablet as opposed to a crappy one.
