Flickering vs PWM – Do we have some misunderstanding here?

I have some doubts over it and not sure if the author checked his/her source. I am no engineer but I studied Power Quality a bit years ago.

From what I recall, flicker refers to *irregular* fluctuations in intensity. Which is different from regular (digital clock driven) pulsation.

If regular pulses of light cause discomfort easily (I am not saying it won’t), we would be seeing people throwing up regularly after every movie screening perhaps…no?

Flicker for me is when the intensity fluctuates, for example with Intel power saving screen features on this happens.

PWN flicker is more of a pattern flicker to me. the moves up or down the screen.

I think it varies from person to person, as some same they see the flicker, another don’t see it. Often there is flicker on camera and in person nothing.
