Full Size USB Port mod? Non 3G model.

so i’ve been looking into the motherboard on the Teclast Air 2, as people have been saying they have most likley used the same board for the X98 Pro.
turns out the 3G modem, is connected by a USB interface, and that the pads are still there, just unpopulated.

as i’ve been wanting a full size usb port, i was thinking that it might be possible to solder some thin wires to the pads, and hook up a full size female USB port?

i was looking around online and saw that there are quite a few people who have done similar things to the eePc’s and though, well, might as well try it on this.
my tablet hasn’t yet turned up, so i cant open it up yet to take a look and confirm my thoughts.
has anyone else opened up their 3G or non 3G X98?

not 100% sure that the pinout diagram of the H350 is the latest version.

Hi,

Sounds great, I’m all for a mod like this as I wish mine had a full sized port. I’ll be opening up my X98 Pro today to have a look at the heat spreader copper tape over the SoC or heat sink and add some copper shims and thermal pads. I will take plenty of photos of the internals while I’m at it. I’ll check out.

Damn, just saw your video, they are a different pin out….. I guess I’ll have to wait uuntil the 3G/4G model comes out, to find out which modem they use, and what it’s pin out is….. Or I might be able to find out what the pins are with an oscilloscope….  *fingers crossed*
