It did the same with me straight out of the box two weeks ago but for some reason the Play store app works fine now. Only thing I can think of is that i installed the updates provided by the Teclast OTA update app.
March 1, 2016 at 10:32 am #27651Hi!
I had the same at the beginng: After updating Google Service, the Google Play Store was crashing when I tried to search for an app. If you experience the same, update the tablet via the OTA app. If you still have issues, try to uninstall updates for Google Services by going to it via the Settings / Apps. After that, try to install them again. A reboot of the tablet in between helps.
March 1, 2016 at 12:22 pm #27655Using the custom ROM, everything is fine there.
March 1, 2016 at 2:51 pm #27668@Gal: Which custom ROM are you using? Do you have the dual OS version and is Windows still there after you have installed the custom?
March 1, 2016 at 4:40 pm #27676fload,
This one.But I warn you, there are 2 problems at the moment. One could very be a deal breaker.
1. I can’t update superSU. The update fails when I try to.
2. For some reason my 128GB card is only recognized as 1.85GB. It happened to others so I would not install if you are working with an external sd card.March 1, 2016 at 4:51 pm #27678I have the dual boot version of the X98 plus, and I would like to keep it that way. I am all for a custom ROM, if it offers some improvements (remove Chinese software, 100% English, speed fixes, better touch screen, etc) but which one?
I will mostly use Android, but I do also need Windows 10, since I am a PC technician.
March 1, 2016 at 5:02 pm #27680arb,
There is only one ROM at the moment.
Again, there is an issue with the SD card with the ROM, got to say it.What I would do if I were you:
1. Root the device.
2. Remove China apps (be careful not to remove Teclast stuff).I’m not sure even how to go back to the original Android ROM now..so.. I can’t use SD card.
March 1, 2016 at 5:06 pm #27681Ok. What is the best method of rooting? I am not too concerned with SD cards at this time.
March 1, 2016 at 5:14 pm #27682Easiest in the world.
First of all, all credits to supercowz.
Just download this file.
Extract it, password is “spz”.
Then install PhoneFlashTool (and accept everything is the process). The software is included in the file.
Reboot.
Connect your tablet.
Enable USB Debugging in your tablet settings.
Run “ROOT.bat” or (as I did) “ROOT.and.tweak.bat”.
It will do some stuff ..wait until it’s done (when it restarts, choose Android of course).DO NOT DISCONNECT IN THE PROCESS.
Enjoy.
March 2, 2016 at 2:13 am #27712It looks like root + tweak worked, but when I try to update the SU (I chise the NORMAL option), but it eventually says,
” Installation failed!
Please reboot and try again.”
I reboot and try again (I retried twice), but still the same issue.
