Greatly improve touchscreen response in Windows

My X98 Plus A5C6 model had laggy and inaccurate touchscreen response in Windows 10. It’s OK with fingers but it’s impossible to use a capacitive stylus like an Adonit Pro because it keeps skipping lines.

I fixed this by editing the TouchSetting.gt file. Now I can use my fingers and stylus with a lot more accuracy when drawing in OneNote. It feels almost as smooth as an iPad too.

Please make a backup of it first before doing anything. Also, have a Bluetooth or USB mouse on hand in case things go wrong and you can’t use the touchscreen. This mod should work on all Atom tablets that use similar Goodix touchscreen ICs.

1. Edit C:\Windows\INF\TouchSetting.gt. Use an administrator-capable editor like Notepad++.
2. Don’t touch other lines because you will need them for proper rotation.
3. 4. Save and reboot.

Explanation: the fix involves changing array values 9 (debounce or noise) and 10 (filtering) to 1, and values 13 (screen touch level) and 14 (screen leave level) to 25 and 22. This makes the touchscreen much more sensitive to small inputs like from a stylus tip.

Value 9: Shake_Count: Debouncing count when finger presses down/releases
Value 10: Filter: Coefficient of filter value for original coordinate window: 1
Value 13: Screen_Touch_Level: Threshold of touch points on screen from none to availability
Value 14: Screen_ Leave_Level: Threshold of touch points on screen from availability to none

Second last value is a checksum. If you decrease any value in the array, then you have to increase the checksum by the same amount (example -2 value, +2 checksum). If the checksum is incorrect, the updated config string won’t be accepted by the touchscreen chip. Use a hex calculator!
