Have we seen the last 7.9" retina Windows tablets?

I’ve been waiting with fingers crossed, watching all the Cherry Trail tablet announcements.  So far there has been no word of a Teclast X89 Cherry trail.

The Teclast X89 (and the older X89HD) were really cool tablets, but battery life wasn’t there.  I always suspected it was because, combined with the small battery, the Baytrail GPU was struggling to push all those pixels.

I really want an 8″ Windows tablet, but 16:9 and 16:10 screens are terrible for anything aside from watching movies.  I would definitely pay $200 for an aluminum build Z8300 with 2gb ram, and 64gb storage.  I’d pay a little more for USB-C.

Is anyone else interested in a 7.9″ 2046×1536 Windows (or dual boot) tablet, or am I alone?

I’d sooner get the X89 for $145. Id pay $50 more for the 4:3 screen alone
