Help me choose a device? Please?

Hi, I’ve been lurking for a while and hoped to tap into the huge hive mind that’s thriving here. I hope you don’t mind.

I’m looking for a tablet/2-in-1 or a convertible yoga-style laptop. I spend a lot of time on trains, and I don’t always get a seat with a table big enough to accommodate my work laptop. For just such circumstances, I picked up a Lynx 1010B cheap as an experiment to see if a cheap tablet would prove capable. I’ve been very impressed with what this little tab can do. I can use SQL Developer on here, full Office and even a little gaming. I can’t complain about a 2-in-1 that cost me less than £100, but there are a few annoyances which take the shine off the experience ever so slightly.

• The Keyboard is fine, but the trackpad is terrible, and there are no sensitivity controls available for it.
• The power button is placed in such a way that the tablet keeps turning itself on in my bag.
• Standby in general seems to eat more battery than with my iPad. Basically, unless I leave this thing on charge, when I pick it up, I can never really be sure that it will have any power left in it.
• WIFI occasionally downgrades to ‘Connected, no internet access’ when on my (perfectly fine) home network.
• 2Gb RAM
• £32 Gb MMC

…Anyway, having had a taste of what a 2-in-1 can do, I’m greedy for more. There aren’t many (if any) big Western brands offering the complete list of features I’m looking for which is:
• Quality Build (I’m willing to pay for this).
• Usable touchpad
• Good battery life in standby.
• Dual Boot Windows 10/Android (I’m not convinced by the Windows 10 tablet experience).
• (this is where I’m getting greedy) Abilty to play Civilization – I’d settle for 5, but would dearly love 6. My Linx will get about halfway into a game, then crashes.
• Not need any hacks – I don’t have time to scour XDA for ROMs, and I’d rather not have to pry open my new device as soon as it arrives to place pieces of copper inside it.

So, guys, if any of you could spare the time to recommend a device, I’d really appreciate it. I’m worried that the Civ requirement will rule out the Android requirement. Has anyone had Civ 6 running on anything that can dual boot?

I have the same basic goals…  I have purchased both a Chuwi Hi12 and an Onda Obook 11 Plus.  Both devices use the same processor, have the same amount of RAM (4gb) and same amount of storage (64gb). Both are dual-boot (Windows 10 & Android 5.1/RemixOS) and both have a keyboard dock with touchpad.

While the Chuwi Hi12 is a better *tablet* in general, the Onda Obook 11 Plus is my choice between the two simple because the keyboard dock works MUCH better than the keyboard dock on the Hi12 (keys don’t register half of the time and sometimes registers keys twice – extremely annoying – I even bought a 2nd keybaord dock hoping that the first one was defective, but it wasn’t).

I run RemixOS on these devices – it runs REALLY well.  Nice having a full windowing environment in Android!  I was able to root both Android and RemixOS on them (actually, my Onda Obook 11 Plus came wth RemixOS and I can’t find a stock Android image for it, so I’ve only used RemixOS on the Onda – but it’s rootable).  You can also adjust the split of the 64gb between Windows/Android if you’d like (requires re-install of both OS’s).

I’m curious about the Teclast Tbook 12 and Tbook 16 as well, but haven’t tried them.  The Tbook 12 doesn’t have a way to disable the trackpad via a keyboard key, so that kind of rules that out (otherwise, while typing, you accidently tap the trackpad).

Onda Obook 11 Plus is 11.6″ (16×10 or 16×9, not sure).  Chuwi Hi12 is 12.2′ (4×3).
