Received my shiny new Hi12 from Gearbest (great price, service and shipping btw) last week.
Eagerly turned it on and was impressed by what I saw. Everything worked fine and the power button operated as expected. one short press put the tablet into sleep mode, and a short press again, woke the tablet up immediately.
Later that evening I prepared to install programs etc and turned it on only to be greeted with the annoying windows updates. After couple of hours of the blue “windows is updating, please do not turn off” message it finally came back, only to find that as soon as i pressed the power button on the Hi12, it was impossible to wake up. Only a seemingly random combination of 3 short presses and 1 x 10 sec press kicked started the device back but only into a full hard reboot, and not a wakeup cycle. And it wasnt consistent and only seemed to work randomly.
I had to change the power options for the button and lid closing from Sleep to Hibernate, but this wasnt an ideal solution! I was getting depressed thinking that I had a functional tablet for less than 24 hours only!
Thus the solution.
I reset the tablet using Windows10/Settings/Recovery/Reset my PC/delete all files. After a full reset, the first program recommended by a colleague was “Winaero tweaker”, and after installing I “Disabled Driver Updates vis windows Updates”.
The tablet has now had full win10 updates 1607 and the wakeup function is 100% fine now !! I love the screen on this tablet, and I ma pleasantly surpised how fast it is for general web use. I also bought the Hipen h2 stylus and its pretty good for drawing too!
I was tearing my hair out on this, but in the end it was simple issue of Win10 updates wiping out good drivers erroneously.!!!
