    Not tried any of the thermal mods yet (having only had this tablet since today)  But the person from tech tablets which did the mod used a 1mm thick pad (but advised no more than that)  A larger thermal pad would indeed help dissipating the temperature away more.   Only main issue I can think of is that the heat would spread all out across the back and also the battery..

    1mm thick or even 0.5mm. I used 1mm. Any thicker can cause too much pressure on the screen.
