I need to do a clean reinstall of the original win 8.1 (with Bing, if I remember correctly) to my dual boot X98 Air 3G. According to a Microsoft support guy, there are only 2 ways to do it if I want to be able to activate with the stored Windows key. Either I need the Teclast original ISO or I can use the Microsoft tool to download a USB installation media in Chinese FROM WITHIN CHINA!
Has anyone succeeded to do this?
The background for any interested X98 Air 3G owner: A major update of Win 8.1 failed some time ago, and after that, Windows Update was unable to find or download any more updates. I eventually found out that Windows Update has an inbuilt repair utility, and it solved the issue by deleting all repair history and update then succeded. But when it was done, I had no touch control. It turned out to be not just Goodix Touch control missing, but a massive breakdown of Windows, with lots of devices “not connected to Windows” anymore. I could see them in the Device Manager only by enabling “View hidden devices”. I tried to do a Windows recovery, but it got stuck at 8 %. After reboot, I only get to Windows Repair (in Chinese, but fortunately with symbols to guide). All options there fail, except installing from external media remaining.
