Thanks for answering. So X3 also has the glue? Do you need to apply more glue of same kind when you are done?

I started my attempt today and it wasn´t succesful. The first part, opening from the USB port edge went well, but at the other end the edge with the volume control and power button just wouldn´t let the backplate go. The attached picture shows how far I got. Heating more and applying very gentle push upwards resulted, as far as I could see from the very restricted inside view, that, whatever the glue is attached to, lifts from the bottom and somehow even pushes the screen edge in the opposite direction. That scared the hell out of me, so I stopped immediately. The power button still works, thank God, but I couldn´tell if the volume button does, because my initial problem is that the SSD has (probably) crashed and the tablet doesn´t get past the Setup Menu.

What should I do now? How can I get the volume control and power button edge to release its grip of the backplate.

A lot wiser than a week ago, I can now confirm this: DO NOT FOLLOW THE  TUTORIAL “HOW TO OPEN AN X2 PRO, AND POPULAR MODS” !!!

The whole backplate shall be removed in one piece. It has a plastic frame, which you can open with your finger nails, just as Chris says in the initial part of his video “Teclast X3 Pro Internals. Sim Reader And Spare M.2 Slot”. Start at the edge with USB ports and it will easily snap up.

    Hi Sven,

It is not much to say actually, above what I wrote in my post of August 18. Make sure you first view and listen to the initial part of Chris´video, then go ahead with your finger nail. If, by exception, your unit is more stubborn than mine, you can use a credit card edge or similar instead of your finger nail. I have made a simple picture for you. Start where the picture shows and then work your way towards the USB ports and the power jack. I was surprised at how easily the lid snapped open, once I had abandoned my stupid first efforts.

    Good luck!

Thank you for your answer. There is no glue between the backplate and the casing?

The backplate consists of two parts. The center part is easily separated from the rest and is the one that you can snap away with your finger nail. The outer part is glued to the main case and you are supposed to be able to remove it by heating (although I failed to do that properly). But luckily, you don´t want to remove the complete backplate, just the center part. So, don´t worry about the glue.
