For context, I’m an IT professional and intended to replace a cheap Android tablet for light/fun uses while on the go (facebook, video, simple games etc) but have been re-thinking after being surprised by the capabilities of Surface like tablets. I’m thinking to spend a bit more than originally intended on the Cube i9 if it can be used for work tasks when on call (connect over VPN to use tools like PuTTY etc, that I use on my main laptop etc). This is mainly for background but any thoughts on it’s suitability for this type of usage would be welcome.
I’m curious about the i9’s usability for other purposes when used without a keyboard (e.g. taking technical notes), so am wondering how usable the available stylus might be be for handwriting recognition. I realize there’s no active stylus for the i9, so there’s no support for palm rejection, but can it be used effectively for filling in browser form fields or taking notes?
I’m not an aspiring artist and don’t expect to need stylus support for shading or anything fancy, so I’d be happy if handwriting could be used effectively, even if only through the handwriting keyboard area rather than “in-place” on the screen in apps like MS Note.
I could spend a lot less on an improved replacement for my current usage so, before going ~$200 beyond the original budget on a pipe dream, any thoughts or experiences on the usability of the i9 (or other tablets) against either of the above topics would be very welcome…
