The update was installed without (so far) problems for me. I use the media creation tool to start the update manually. and yes you can use external drives. i used a sd-card-reader with the original keyboard-dock.

I hoped this would be so but I should have been more explicit. Those of us who have Windows Home cannot postpone the update, which any moment now will arrive and try to install itself automatically. How do we stop this, to allow a breathing space to implement alternative, such as using the Media Creation Tool and external drives. Or will the update charge ahead like a bull in a china shop?

i updated via windows update with no problems, for so far, i haven’t noticed any problems running this update, but after 1 day i installed a clean version of windows(without the Chinese apps and language)  also with this update via media creation tool from MS site. I can tell you that you should update safely.

The update was installed automatically with at my device cause I’ve had 10Gb of free space on the main disk. In my opinion the update works very good, the tablet was even getter a little bit faster and more responsive in my opening. The new on screen keyboard is also a plus.
