I need some help opening a spreadsheet into Excel 365

I used to use an older version of Excel. My computer was infected, and I had to have the hard disk wiped clean and everything reloaded. I purchased Windows 365 at that point. When I launch Excel 365 and try to open one of my Excel spreadsheets, I get this message:

“We’re sorry. We can’t open the workbook in the browser because it uses these unsupported features: Microsoft Excel version 5.0 module sheets.” Then I click on the button that says “Open in Desktop App”. Next it says “We opened this file in Microsoft Excel on your computer”. Where? Can’t see it anywhere.

Then there is a message to click on “Try launching Microsoft Excel again”. I click on it, then the same message is displayed, and it is in an endless loop. Anyone know what I can do to get that file to load into Excel?

I think when you login to Office 365 there should be a link to download

So, i found the possible solution…check Compatibility Mode: Open Excel 365, go to File > Open, and try opening the file directly from the app instead of the browser. If it opens, save it as a newer format (like .xlsx) by going to File > Save As.

Repair the File: If it still doesn’t open, use the “Open and Repair” option. In Excel, go to File > Open, select your file, click the dropdown arrow next to “Open,” and choose “Open and Repair.”
