Yes, it looks to be a new batch. But no idea if it has any fixes of the thermals or not. We just have to wait for someone to post the model number if it really is a revision and their thermals.
The iwork10 Ultimate isn’t bad, did you see my review? http://techtablets.com/cube-iwork10-ultimate/
However, the Z8500 is quite a bit faster over the Z8300. The tbook11 I will have on Wednesday.

Next up for review:
Ordered and waiting for my: BMAX S15 & Teclast F6 Plus
Currently testing: LG G8X & Redmi K30March 27, 2016 at 10:05 pm #31070thank you,
as my 1st priority is the screen, as its mainly for watching videos and movies.
but defently wants it to be fast thats why i can invest more to around 250$ if it has 8500
March 28, 2016 at 11:48 pm #31173I am really wanting this PRO tablet. I emailed the manufacturer Teclast, and the sales manager said they are NOT making the X98 PRO 8500 anymore.
I thought that would be a deal breaker for me, but after reading FORUMS for all the tablets it seems that there are is an endless supply of complaints, no matter which manufacturer. And the one thing I like too, is that there are many users of the PRO with many fixes shown in the forums.
AND THE SPEED…you gotta love that…although I am not a gamer…but I do work fast, and multitask a lot too – but let’s not forget the USB 2.0 slow speed for copying large files. Does the microphone work clearly?
So…since I am a computer geek, and I do not have any problem with performing Chris’s wonderfully creative Thermal Mod, or making this tablet my hobby…I am wondering…
Should I buy this tablet….especially considering the sale price (and that I want a tablet less than 1o”)…or am I simply buying a sick problem?
Super thank you…for all your answers…
March 30, 2016 at 6:42 am #31358I bought the Teclast Pro…Regards to everyone…
March 30, 2016 at 5:03 pm #31413Joel, I am in the same position as you. I have been actively monitoring this site (kudos to Chris for a great job!) for many months waiting to pull the trigger on a new dual boot tablet. I learned long ago that the time spent researching on threads like these saves countless hours diagnosing the inevitable “gotcha’s” that crop up with every electronic device, and doubly so, it seems, with these Chinese tablets. The X98Pro was/is exactly what I was looking for but each time I would convince myself to buy, yet another problem would seem to be reported in the X98Pro forum. So I was both frustrated and relieved when it looked like Teclast had indeed pulled this item. Frustrated that they never introduced the simple fixes that would have made this a great tablet, relieved that I could cross this one off my list and look at other options (not that any comparable options have appeared yet – I don’t want to downgrade to the Z8300, or move up to the Core-M). So when you receive your X98Pro, please post your findings.
Thanks.
March 31, 2016 at 4:48 am #31450Hey Don,
Thanks f0r your reply.
The X98 pro is on a super sale with Banggood. Only about $210 with free shipping – for a tablet that was once over $400. If you can do the thermal mod, I would recommend you buy the tablet. Telcast sells thousands of these. The forums shows mostly the inexperienced users that have little experience with Windows and Android (so sorry to the experienced guys). Their problems make us forum users think the tablet is flawed, when in reality – I hope – the tablet is the fastest <10″ windows tablet available, at a great price – already troubleshooted – and soon unavailable.
So…I bought the tablet – great price…I’m also ready to do the thermal mod…so bring on the FASTEST tablet…I’m ready for the challenge…
If you are similarly inclined…buy the tablet while it’s still available…
I’m looking forward to letting you and the forum know the positive results I will get…The second week in April…
Thank you to Chris for such a valuable resource – TechTablets….I wouldn’t have even considered this purchase without Chris’ marvelous endeavor with his China tablet forums and website.
Good Luck…as I will need it too.
April 12, 2016 at 5:50 am #33098I just got delivery of the Teclast Pro…and so far, everything is perfect. Ordered from Banggood less than a week or so ago with DHL, and USPS took over for the home delivery. I did receive it with condensation in the package. The useless manuals were damp, but the tablet appeared safe. However when using it I noticed a large condensation smear inside the display. I mean, this happens occasionally with my Kenwood GPS in my car – so I didn’t panic, well maybe a little. But it always dried perfectly. And so…I put my desk lamp inches from the top of the display, and within minutes, the smear slowly disappeared…whose happy now?
Anyway…no Google Playstore yet (I think it’s illegal in China) but I downloaded it and will install it tomorrow.
Just remember the dual boot computer is really TWO SEPARATE COMPUTERS..so that will drive me crazy for weeks getting it set up, and running perfectly. I mean 2 clocks to set, etc. Also windows update will take a long time updating too.
So I am very happy with this beauty. Hot? Forgetaboutit! So far my recommendation is:
Buy it while you can still get it.Attachments:

Same hardware version as all dual boot x98 pro’s
Came with bios version v1.14, date December 2015.
Thermals still suck so i had to do the mod.
So far no problems in windows. I don’t use android
April 12, 2016 at 7:15 pm #33204My Bios version says SMBIOS 2.8What are results of the thermal mod so far? Was it easy to open the case? I am waiting for all the thermal parts to come in – then I will probably do the mod too.
April 13, 2016 at 6:14 am #33250the bios version is the one saying “project version tpad x.xx”
that number is your bios version.
The mod if you have experience from modding PCs is a 15 minute job. Otherwise take it slow and do it properly. The case is relatively easy to open with a guitar pick or a credit card. Start from the white side where the camera is. Take it slow because there are plastic clips that might break if you force it. The temps will drop about 20 degrees if you do it properly. Maybe more, depending on the activity. For example, while installing updates in windows, the temps would reach 80 degrees whereas now the are 50-ish.
April 13, 2016 at 6:40 pm #33336You are correct, my bios version says 1.14 –
I ordered the parts for doing the thermal mod.Are you updating the bios? Seems to work fine as is.
Big question, have you installed Google Play? I don’t know how, any help?April 13, 2016 at 8:57 pm #333611.14 is the latest version as far as i know.
If you use android you should probably flash Mirek’s rom. It has everything
April 13, 2016 at 9:11 pm #33363How do I find the BIOS version?
April 21, 2016 at 11:36 pm #34604My first week’s impression with the X98 Pro…I have found that the WINDOWS 10 part of the tablet is really good.
Most important of all (especially before troubleshooting and problem that may come up) is to UPDATE the system with all Windows updates. Then I made a backup of the entire drive (one backup automatically includes ANDROID and Windows) with Easeus from the window side of the tablet and now I am ready for some extreme mods. I went through windows and:
1. Turned off windows animations.
2. Lowered IE’s cache to 50 MEGS.
3. Turned off Indexing.
4. Turned on SYSTEM RESTORE!
5. Installed Double Driver and backed up all the drivers’ backup – with a copy into Microsoft One Drive cloud.
6. Installed ccleaner…and cleaned up Temp files and the Registry.
7. Windows 10 had updated with a major system update – so after everything ran a few days, I deleted the first system as it took up too much disk space.
8. Just to try it out so I may save battery power, I installed ThrottleStop to play around with and TURN OFF TURBO MODE when not playing games. I may eventually just turn off TURBO MODE in the BIOS and uninstall ThrottleStop.
9. I ran Malwarebytes and found what one forum member thought were 3 viruses – but I think they aren’t viruses at all, just a way to initially clean up the system.
10. I may perform the overheating mod…not sure yet.
11. Turn off sync with Microsoft’s One Drive.
12. Run Easeus backup again. The ANDROID section of the computer is way too much Chinese and no Play Store. But hey…if I can have a working FAST Windows 10 tablet…why go crazy maintaining the ANDROID section too – Windows is plenty good enough. Now that I have a backup. I can fool around all I want. So I may install the Merck mod and see how Android works…but I think I would rather not root the tablet, I believe it’s better to leave it stock.
So – the Teclast X98 Pro – is very nice. I read someone said the speakers are bad…I think the speakers are GREAT and loud, and nice fidelity! The piano is ringing with frequency. Better than my LG G3 phone…but not any better than my RIVA TURBO X bluetooth wonder.
Would I buy the tablet again? Y E S !!! It really is nice. Windows is very stable. 🙂
April 23, 2016 at 4:34 am #34747Where did you buy it? Which model is it? I’m experiencing the opposite, windows is totally useless as I wrote on my post, and I Would like to have a look on winch ones are giving this problems.
