Hi everyone, I’ve been putting the Hi10 Plus (z8350 version) through its paces for a review. Not a bad piece of kit, all things considered.
I’d noted that many other Chuwi tablets of this series (Hi10 Pro, etc.) had been shipping to North America with an EU format 3.0A charger, often without an adapter. I was pleasantly surprised to see that mine arrived with a US plug edition. However, I’ve discovered that when it is plugged in, the keyboard stops working. An error message appears saying “USB Device Not Recognized”. The keyboard and trackpad will not function even if I remove the tablet from the keyboard and re-attach it. The keyboard will work again only if I unplug the charger, then detach and re-attach the keyboard. Here is a link to a video of the problem:

This also happens in Remix OS. This problem does NOT happen when I use a different charger (I have a 2.0A charger as seen in the video). Therefore the problem is with the charger that was sent with this unit. I’ve started up a ticket with Gearbest and will see what happens – it sucks because even though it charges slowly while in use (as noted by Chris in his review), I’d very much want an option to use it while plugged in should the battery run out. If I can’t find a solution, I would have to recommend that buyers NOT get a US plug charger with this tablet.
I’m wondering if anyone has experienced this issue? I’m curious if it could be a one-off thing, or a design flaw in the US plug charger, which seems to be new. Thoughts?
