So the problem is that you don’t know how to boot on your usb key right ? This bios is weird but the thing you have to remember is that you need a bootia32.efi file in the /efi/boot/ folder of your usb boot drive. Also, f7 during boot should get you to the boot selection menu. If you select your key and it does not work then your key is faulty, verify that the efi folder has the bootia32.efi file.

If you don’t have the boot menu by pressing f7,  you should be able to boot on the key even via the bios by selecting override boot in the last tab.

    Keep me updated.

    Hi!!,

Thanks for helping me. So here is the deal. I checked the USB drive I have the windows backup on and in the EFI folder is only Bootia64.efi so I searched the web for a 32,efi file and I see it all over the place but I have no idea where to download it from. I have been on GitHub and evrn Microsoft windows 10 site. Which is just hanging. Any idea how to get that file?

I tried booting up into the BLUE bios boot menu using F7 but that did noting but boot the tablet regularly into Android. I shut it down and did it again , using what I was told a long time a go which was press the ESC key. That gets me in. When I go to the boot tab USB boot is #2 and I cannot move it at all to the #1 position. I looked for the “Overide Boot” in the tabs but I cannot seem to find that anywhere.

Whatever help you have will be appreciated.

Also do you know if there is a way to just HARD reset the Vi8 I tried everythng I could think of which I used on my Asus tab holding down Vol up/Down/Power/ all different ways and nothing.

    Thank you again!

So, you absolutely need that file, you’ll then manage to boot on your key. No, there’s no hard reset to go back to original state. I don’t have a vi8 but a vi8 plus with only Windows, but i do know how this works. I uploaded you the bootia32.efi, place it in the right folder and try again + follow tutorials to restore the system you want.

    HI!!;

Thank you for the file. I now have it on my usb drive and got into the boot menu and I still cant move the USB drive to the #1 position. I am going to send you some screen shots. I have tried many different way’s and the recovery drive will not start a recovery. I will take some pics and show you what I am doing. I totally appreciate your time!!!

    Thank you!

Mark, please, please stop a moment and explain what you are hoping to do with the USB drive before you go any further.

You could end up making the tablet a lot worse if you continue blindly trying things to see if they work.

    Hey Jonathan,

Thank you for the reply. I made this video to try and explain what’s going on.   https://youtu.be/TrbtDoa_i4I

I was in the process of upgrading the Chuwii Vi8 to Windows 10 when it got stuck in a loop and basically I have no acccess to Windows at all. I had made a Restore USB drive, as I do with any computer I get. What I was trying to do was use the USB drive to boot into windows. I plugged the tablet into a keyboard and then I put the USB into another plug and got into the Bios/Boot menu I went to the “Boot” tab to try and change the boot order. USB is #2 and something I have never seen is #1. Nothing I did was able to make the boot order move to the 1st boot position. I know a bit about this, enough to feel like I wasn’t going to screw anything up. So Basically,as it stand, I have a tablet that will ON:Y boot into Android and just goes into this weir loop if I try going to the Windows OS.

Any suggestions or help would be appreciated.

    Thank you!

    Mark

    Hi Mark,

Sorry for putting the brakes on, but I’ve seen a fair few people make a minor problem into a big one because they haven’t thought things through or don’t understand the issue.

What I would do in this situation is use Microsoft’s media creation tool to make a bootable 32-bit installation USB flash drive.

I would then get a powered hub, i.e. one that plugs into the mains supply, and plug in my keyboard/USB drive and connect the hub to another PC to check the keyboard and drive were both usable.

I would then attach the hub to my tablet and enter BIOS setup to try and boot from the USB drive.

If you are still having dificulties can you do that and just see if you get anywhere please? Just don’t proceed with installation if it does work!
