It's too hot. battery 4500mah. bluetooth issues

Hi there,

I got the cube i7 stylus a few days ago, from the official store. It came with windows 10 preinstalled. And although the performance is great, there are some issues that really bother me.

Like the heat on the left side, it’s not too hot that you can’t hold it but it’s definitely more than warm, and it’s always like that. I’m not talking about heavy stuff, it’s just browsing or working on a excel sheet.

Then there is the bluetooth, at first i could turn on the icon, but i couldn’t turn it off. Now, it’s vice-versa. And when i could turn it on, it didn’t pair with my headphones or speaker.

And also, there is the battery. All the reviews i read and watched said it has a 9000mAh battery, well, this has only 4500mAh, it charges too long, but the battery life is pretty much the same like everybody else i guess, about 6 hours Screen on time, sometimes less, depending on the brightness and the work i’m doing.

I like the tablet and i like the stylus, and would hate to return it. I want to know how are you guys putting up with the heating issues and if you have any bluetooth problems and how is your battery life? On top of all that, the tablet came with chinese windows, i tried all sorts of stuff, it just doesn’t change. Some menus always stay in chinese. Will try to reinstall a new copy soon, hope that goes well with the drivers i can find here.

Hi, all the Core M’s run hot. It’s a powerful chip for a fanless tablet. Even my Dell Venue 11 Pro 7140 that got really hot, even hotter than the Cube i7 Stylus. I haven’t had any BT issues with my one, it’s working fine. Maybe reinstall the driver?

I’ve opened up mine, it has two 4500mAH battery cells in there. I’ve since installed Windows 10 on mine and there is no Chinese anywhere now.

I hope the heating won’t affect the performance over time.  I guess I was wrong about the battery, the manual said 4500mAh and I got worried maybe its a different version. I did check the specs before buying it, it said 9000mAh, its probably a mistake in the manual. Will check with the seller on Monday.

I will reinstall the windows the following days, hopefully without any problems.

I found this link over at xda http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=62250425&postcount=243

it details on how while its a 4.5 watt core m chip, it was not set with any restrictions and can go up to 6 watt at rest and up to 15 watt when under load in burst mode.

It does add speed but at the cost of a lot of heat–they link to an intel program that can  let you reset the max load at rest to 4.5 watt and reduce the turbo boost as well.  I don’t think it makes it much slower but may help with the heat

 

I also believe there were some instructions on how to modify the heat sink and spreader to improve cooling.

Anyone know where can i find the bluetooth driver?

i have the same issue, in the device manager i can see “Generic Bluetooth Device”

but i can’t find any device when i search on bluetooth, so i can’t find the device itself to pair.

I have the same on my tablet with bluetooth. All settings seems ok, bluetooth driver – seen as “Realtek Bluetooth 4.0 Adapter”, before update driver was named “Generic Bluetooth Device”. All settings set to visible.

But when I switch ON Bluetooth, there is searching informations and this searching “windows dots” for new devices, but nothing. No device could be found. And my Cube also is not visible.

Reinstalled drivers, also wireless drivers too, but nothing. How to clear drivers to set new and make it working?

And info about battery. You have correct battery. It’s 12V charger, but battery could be ‘named’:
7,4V x 4500mAh = 33,3Wh
3,7V x 9000mAh = 33,3Wh

because tablet it’s using 3,7V.

I had problems under bluetooth too. It showed up as installed and kept searching for but failed to connect to devices such as a Bose soundsystem.

I uninstalled/deleted all bluetooth drivers under the device manager and installed the win10 64bit driver for the Realtek RTL8723BE

from Lenovo (http://support.lenovo.com/us/en/downloads/ds039726) .Everything works fine afterwards.

Did the new drivers solve the wifi/BT drop outs when using both at the same time? Mine will skip/dropout when streaming media and using headset at the same time, don’t even TRY to run a BT mouse/headset/wifi at same time…. using original drivers.

Thanks for the link. I installed the software and it does help, it’s not that hot anymore.

The modified heat sink got my attention. I would like to try that, it doesn’t seem to complicated.

It works fine while streaming and using a Bose soundlink mini II. I didnt try it with any other bluetooth devices.
