Sorry to hear about this Naomi.  I have read every thread about this problem and I have even pmed someone else who had it and I must say the news is very grim.

No one to my knowledge has managed to fix this.

Now that needs to be in its own paragraph because a problem like this is just that devastating.  We buy Chinese tablets for the fun factor, the low prices, for a lot of reasons but it really hurts when it breaks because sending it back is such a pain.  It is not like you can just hop in your car and do a quick return.

I would get in touch with your seller right away and work out some kind of deal.  Be it a return, a partial or full refund, whatever.  Don’t waste any more time on a “fix.”

    Hey Joe,

Thanks for your quick response although it is an unpleasant message. It really sucks to see this laptop broken down because I really like this design of a fake apple Mac Air and for school stuff and some web browsing I thought it should be fine with it.  I guess my next laptop will be from a higher quality…

If there is nothing else I can do, thanks for your help so far 🙂

Looks as though I am in the same boat ~ I bought a EZbook Pro v4 for my son for Christmas and on 2nd Jan the screen suddenly went blank. Only the power and caps lock lights show there is any life ~ seems to shut down and boot up okay, but no sign of any video output. Looks like a return is the only option….?

I’m almost afraid to use my ezbook pro 3 v4. Too bad about your son’s Christmas gift, Tony.  That’s a heartbreaker.

Today I’m going to open mine up. A theory that one gentleman had was that the display cable gets all wrapped up in the hinge and gets damaged every time you open and close the darned thing. It’s worth a try. Wish me luck!

Thanks Joe, and good luck with opening up. I have also seen the comments about the cables; I’m not completely convinced as my son used his for only a week..

Let us know how you get on and if you find that the cable is damaged….

I had similar problem, and basically  CPU goes into sleep mode.  Sometimes doing what you do wakes it up, but most times it doesn’t.  The only way I could get it to work again, is to leave it on and drain the battery till it powers off on its own, then plug the power back in and turn on.  Unfortunately, due to the low power consumption this could take days.

However if you manage to wake the CPU up again, and boot up, and the screen goes black again this is usually a hardware problem with the screen somewhere.

Sad to see a few posts about this problem now 🙁

For those whose devices have failed in this manner, which version do you have and when were they delivered? Just wondering if it’s a bad batch.

    Hi again everyone,

I did open my ezbook pro 3 v4 and everything looks really tidy and first rate.  I have looked at YouTube videos and reviews and more than one commentator has remarked about how the motherboard looks.  Everything is so well put together.  Even the battery is a quality unit, not one of those lithium bag looking batteries the-colour-of-the-stuff-inside!

I looked at the cables that go into or near the hinge and I would agree with Tony that this must not be the reason for the black screen problems some of us are having.  My cables look tidy and not in obvious distress. Nothing is catching on anything.  The hinge is tight, the all metal case is well put together.  Honestly, I’m so impressed with this laptop I would turn around and buy another one to replace it if it would die.

Well, maybe I wouldn’t buy it from Jumper!  So I think it would be great if everyone with the black screen problem were to just post when and where they bought their Ezbook. That might help to identify a bad batch.

Thanks for sharing Joe. I wouldn’t be surprised if there is a fairly simple fix for this problem in due course. Unfortunately, it looks as if I am going to have to send this one back ~ not sure what I will replace it with.

So just a quick update on my Jumper.

For all of you who are interested in the circumstances: I bought the jumper online on gearbest and everything worked out quite smoothly. The delivery took longer than expected –  25 days instead of 14 days (from China to Germany). But anyways, the customer service was always quick in responding to my questions.

I only had the chance to use the notebook two weeks until it crashed. Sad story, I started to like this cheap notebook and it was great for my university studies. Gearbest also replied fast when I contacted them and asked them for a return ticket. I had to send in some details and a video of the damaged item. They have now offered me a repair service and have written me where I can send the Jumper to but on MY OWN costs which reeeeeally sucks…. In the meantime while waiting on gearbest to answer I’ve already bought a new laptop.

This is as far as I got at the moment. I let you know what will happen next if you’re interested 🙂

Naomi ~ I am in the same situation with LightInTheBox, but they say this about postage costs: “Please keep the return costs receipt and send a photo when our logistic department contact you and we will refund”. So Gearbest may do the same?

Yeah that’s sounds like a good idea. I will let them know and send them a photo of the receipt. Can you tell me how much you paid for the return package?

With LightInTheBox they have a EU returns warehouse in Poland. This will cost me about £15(UK)
