just discovered there is a Windows 10 firmware system upgrade!!

Guys,

if you go on Windows 10 under “device manager” and you try to update one by one all devices (you double click on the device, you go on the tab “driver”, you click “update driver” and you click “search automatically”), you will see that:

– first a lot of devices (like the graphics card, the audio, the camera, etc.) has a new driver
– and secondly and surprisingly, if you enter “Firmware” and then you try to update the second item listed, it will update you to a “Teclast System Firmware”!!

You will see at the reboot that is actually updating the firmware and at the end of the process (it will not take long) it ask you to click any key with your keyboard (so you need to connect a keyboard before the reboot, otherwise touching the screen or the volume button will not work properly).

So I do not know what exactly changed, but FYI I had installed (what I thought) the latest available firmware provided by Teclast, following the procedure I had described here: http://techtablets.com/forum/topic/guide-how-to-install-latest-w10-official-teclast-without-android-and-keyboard/

If you want to try I believe it should be beneficial somehow 😉

What date does it say your firmware got now?

Mine is 2016 06 21, before trying any update…

Be careful with those updates some have been known to brick systems.

well, then you have one more updated than mine, as mine after the update says 03/03/2016 driver version: 10.0.10240.3

Do you have a new tablet? as in the teclast website there is no such recent firmware to download…

No. It’s quite old. I bought it right after Chris made the original review.
However… I have had a Windows Update… But I’ve turned off driver updates.
Thinking of making a total reinstall and make the Windows partition little bigger. Perhaps make Android(where I for the moment got RemixOS 2) 16GB only. It would give Windows about 30GB free space instead of the current 15GB free. The next Window Update needs 20GB free.

And yea, same as you. I don’t really use Android/RemixOS much. Have just been testing stuff. For me many apps doesn’t work in RemixOS. Stuff like Faecesbook etc. OK, not that I use it much, but still. Also no third party keyboards were working.
But I thought I’d shrink the Android partition a bit and have more for Windows.
As it is now, Windows is not quite useable while Android would work perfectly with only 16 GB or so.

I guess we’ve gone off topic here…

I don’t see it still have the one from last time just the 3.01 it says. You sure there’s a newer one now? I tired to update and says no updates says windows choose best one which means no new one.
