reinstall windows 10 to be on the safe side
connect to a wifi network
click on start and search activation
make sure that windows is activated (if not, contact the seller)
install windows 10 on a usb flash drive via windows media creation from microsoft’s website
then put the flash drive in tablet and click on start and search advanced startup options and restart (or restart the computer normally and continuously click delete until the bios comes up and boot from flash drive)
choose the flash drive from the menu and install windows 10 (and erase the hard drive when you get the option to)
August 23, 2016 at 9:23 pm #47770Will this keep the windows key and drivers ?
Cheers
August 24, 2016 at 1:53 am #47780Think I read somewhere that on some of the 10 builds there is a folder you can copy which will contain the drivers for that install. Seems a very sensible idea but have no idea what it is !
August 24, 2016 at 9:11 am #47791Hi guys,
I just received my book and thank you for information.
I didn’t find my windows keythus I didn’t dare to format and reinstall Win10 🙁
August 24, 2016 at 10:22 am #47793I created an emergency drive and installed windows from there.
Wiped all files and programs but if the windows files are infected by default, can’t do much about that.
that will retain whatever key there is.
August 24, 2016 at 11:09 am #47795Your emergency drive was created from the utility Windows?
I’ll try this evening, thanks 😉

August 25, 2016 at 8:23 am #47900When I got my book from Gearbest it had obviously been turned on after leaving the factory as the start up procedure that is detailed in the paperwork supplied was different and also it asked me on several occasions if I wanted to install some dodgy task bar (cannot remember name but a Google search showed it to be something nasty). I assumed this was Gearbest trying to be helpful by having it configured in English but nevertheless I didn’t like it. So I went into the old style Control Panel and then Windows 7 Backup/Restore and did a factory reset there. It reinstalled a completely fresh Windows and left a Windows.old. Did not need to reinstall drivers or anything else.
August 25, 2016 at 8:41 am #47905And Win10 was reinstalled ? Without asking for the key/licence?
August 26, 2016 at 8:10 am #48014I’m pretty sure the key is stored in UEFI, a fresh Windows install shouldn’t be a problem

Yes – you are given two choices, reinstall and keep your programs or full install and lose everything bar files. As I said there must be an option to roll back as there is a Windows.old created when you have done it. I must admit I was a bit nervous because of the driver issue which I had not got before I did it but everything went smoothly. I took various system images and created a startup disk using an old USB cd drive but did not need any in the end.
However I made a mistake in my previous post. The option to reinstall is not in the old W7 backup but in the new W10 Settings/Update & Security/Recovery and then Reset this PC. It does not ask for a key. Sorry for the mistake 🙂
