I really wonder how long time takes to come from China to France. That damn tracking number is still unknown by DHL…
July 7, 2016 at 7:26 pm #42849All up around a week, sometimes 5 days. I just got mine yesterday, so they are definitely shipping at least.

Ordered and waiting for my: BMAX S15 & Teclast F6 Plus
Currently testing: LG G8X & Redmi K30July 7, 2016 at 9:06 pm #42860DHL tracking indicate arrival next monday. I hope that it will match my needs of a lightweight digital sketchbook … we wille see 🙂
Do you know some power bank that might deliver enough juice to charge it over a USB to type-C cable ? Is the cube battery that you have tested able to charge it over USB ?
July 8, 2016 at 6:50 pm #42950So I received it this afternoon … The device is impressive in terms of performance. Here are the issues that I see actually :
- As stated bu somebody else, the palm rejection does not seem to work. At least it’s really unreliable. I hope that it ‘s just a software issue
- The wifi seems not that reliable : the speed seems to fluctuate a lot.
- I can feel that the insulation is not that good : the keyboard give little electric shock while the device is plugged to the AC through the USB-C port. It may be why the wifi fluctuate.
- The device does not seem to be able to operate the HDMI port of my Aukey USB-C hub. I may have to find another Type-C to HDMI adapter …
I will try to find solutions to all those little issues.
July 8, 2016 at 8:26 pm #42957there is an additionnal issue that I did not see at first but discoverred while translating the keyboard to french layout using stickers : there is no physical key for the <> :'(
This might not be an issue for everybody I guess 🙂
Anyway I may not use the key board that much : the maximum angle is more 100° than 120° and is probably not that good to use on your lap or in transport …

From my talk with So Cube on aliexpress, I think USB-C is not implemented that well for charging, so that might be why you get electric shock via keyboard. Basically all I could understand is that it’s not a good idea to charge via USB-C.
SS of the relevant bit of conversation is in the attachements.
P.S. According to the photos of said keyboard < and > are there. And well.. they cant really remove them, since comma and stop is there.
Edit: In case you’ll wonder what’s the talk about printing letters, I was really trying to get a straight answer if they can actually engrave them straight… Could not do it. So decided to do it later when it comes, plus I found a relatively cheap place that does that in color to boot.

But … there is no physical key for the <> whiach are on the same physical key on french keyboard.
I do not blame them for that in any kind of way … it’s just too bad for me 🙂
Regarding charging by the USB Type-C port, it does work fine. I do not know why but I can’t look at your attachement … by the way : for what I have seen SoCube give answers that are the fastest to get rid of the customer, so not always true. The specs indicate that charging through USB Type C is possible and it looks like it works fine on the Cube i9 … At least my device did not blow up after an hour plugged lioke that … but you are right for the “electric shock feel” (my bad english make it look much more painfull than it was … )
Regarding the palm rejection issue : I have a very good lead : The plam is correctly rejected depending of your hand orientation, but only at a few centimeters from the cursor … so I think that it has to come from the settings of the screen in terms of pixel density and stuff … so it should be something that can be fixed by software … In the mean time : Windows 10 insider has a feature to reimplement the palm rejection as it was in Win8 : rejection on the full screen. So I may order a new SSD and install a windows insider build with that feature I think.
regarding the HDMI port from the Aukey USB Type-C Hub, it seems to work fine after an update of the display driver and if the hub is not plugged to the AC while I am plugging it on the tablet. I can still plug the AC and have a working HDMI output, but I have to unplug the hub from the AC while I am plugging it to the tablet …
Here are my experiment so far ! Sorry for the bad english !
July 8, 2016 at 11:14 pm #42966Interesting, I guess it has something to do with how USB-C detects what has been plugged in (a charger or an actual device). Should be interesting to see if Chris will have the same electrical issues with the keyboard as you do too.
Also a link to that chat sshot. Best guess about “is not filling into electricity” – it’s not connected to the battery i.e. cant actually charge it, only power the device, which they assume might not go well and burn out the mobo.
July 9, 2016 at 11:01 am #42999I can see from your screen shot that you will have the same issue than me and have to translate keyboard using stickers ? It’s quite cheap and very effective… if you have all the physical keys that you need 😉
July 9, 2016 at 2:54 pm #43005Nah, I’m going to laser engrave it. They can actually do it in color. I’ve posted some pics in the same post where I quoted you.
July 9, 2016 at 6:12 pm #43015Wow sounds great !
July 10, 2016 at 10:21 pm #43095I tried it under ubuntu live CD and quick/dirty install and everything was pretty much working, including : keyboard, wifi, pen, … but no palm rejection at all despite the wacom driver being correctly installed … I did not took time to investigate. Tomorrow I will receive a new SSD (going to 256Gb), I will install a fresh windows and check if it comes from the device installation. If it does not work, I will try the windows insider program : it seems that they have added a functionnality to have a full screen palm rejection on stylus detection : will probably solve the issue !
July 11, 2016 at 12:07 am #43099I’m getting no shocks from mine charging it via the type-c port and I always charge it with the type-c port as it charges at 15W and I can use my type-c hub. Is is touching the keyboard and rear housing, no shocks what-so-ever.
@likoum How is the heat on your one?As seen here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v_W2IX3PRzo mine gets up to 97 degrees if I disable the Intel GFX power saving option or run from AC when gaming.
Also, will you do any thermal mods? Add copper or a larger thermal pad, when you open it up. Please take some photos. I’m thinking about adding a 256GB transend SSD. They write around 400mbs so should be faster.

Currently testing: LG G8X & Redmi K30July 11, 2016 at 5:27 am #43114Where is the power saving option ? I have not tried anything as demanding as 3D gaming : my primary usage will be a sketchbook on the go, and I don’t play very demanding games. I will try to run some game during the day.
It’s not electric shock, I don’t know how to describe it in English. Let say that I am particularly sensitive to electricity, even at very low voltage. I can feel that there is electricity in the metallic parts of the casing…
I will not do any thermal mod at this time as I do not have the parts or the knowledge. It may come later once I have learned a little more.
Would you be so kind as to do some test with the palm rejection ? Do you have the same behavior than me with the palm rejection working only on a part of the screen ?
Thanks in advance
July 11, 2016 at 2:18 pm #43138It’s under power in the Intel Graphics options. No static or shocks from my keyboard or i7 Book yet, I know what you mean. I experienced this with an ASUS UX300 ultrabook on the metal palm rest of the laptop.
As for the stylus and palm rejection, I did a test in OneNote and it’s working fine for me, where do you have issues?
