i don’t have it but i can guess a couple of explanations for that

for starters the dock is reversible so there must be some kind of “connector way” sensing circuitry that could suck up battery

knowing that the dock has a usb hub inside, and that the 2 ports can power an external hard drive while the tablet itselft can’t, it could be very well directly connected to the battery, basically staying on all the time while it’s connected to it, thus draining the battery

As Laura suggested, it maybe the USB ports draining power from the tablet or the touchpad if left on adding to the battery drain.

We now have a real Active Stylus working on the iWork 10 Ultimate with pressure points and palm rejection, it’s a bit expensive for the Stylus but honestly this tablet is dirt cheap when on sale, built very well, has a great keyboard dock and has Active Stylus support; not many budget Chinese tablets have these features.

I also experienced it, but only one time. I unplug it on the night, and tomorrow night the battery is still 86%, as soon as I use it, the battery directly jump to 60%. I haven’t experienced it anymore at the mean time.

It is on Android only, as on Windows I set it to hibernate after 45 minutes of sleeping. The tablet boots to Windows so fast that I wouldn’t mind waiting 45 seconds to boots.

I’ve noticed that the tablet charges a bit faster (powered off) when it’s not docked, than if I leave it docked.

Sort of a bummer, as I normally leave it docked when it’s not in use, and the USB hub being a constant drain on the power even if the device is powered off is a bit of an inconvenience.

On the topic of charging, could anyone recommend a more efficient charger than the one that comes stock ? (or if the device will accept a higher rated charger) I love the tablet and the battery life I get, but the slow charging times are killing me .

For my experience, charging when powered off is super slow. It only pull around 400-500 mA from the charger, despite it is QC or whatever charger you use. I also noticed that you should use higher quality cable, like the one provided micro USB cable such as Samsung Note cable. To charge it faster, you must boot to either Windows or Android, not powered off or stay at BIOS.

If you are charging at Windows, it will charge so much faster, pulling 2.25A from my Xiaomi QC 12W charger (of course it only pulls 5V not 9V or 12V like in QC mode). I never tried the included charger, I usually tossed it aside since I don’t believe non branded charger. After charging complete, it will pulls small amount of power, probably for Connected Sleep function.

If you are charging at Android, it will charge a bit slower than Windows, pulling 1.8A from the same charger. When the charging finishes, it will constantly pulls 150-250 mA from the charger for whatever reason. Probably this is why I feel when on Android the battery is so much worse than Windows.

From my experience, charging on Windows maybe take around 3-4 hours? I never really time it since I usually leave it overnight to charge. But one thing for sure it is so much faster to charge when OS is running than powered off completely. Possibly the battery controller is controlled by the OS rather than the BIOS. 5 hours battery life in Windows sure is short compared to another device such as iPad which can holds 8 hours. On Android it is only 3-4 hours. I don’t know why the battery life in Android is so bad, even when only browsing and watching Youtube (which I usually do).

I never experience any battery drain when powered off completely, even when the USB dock is connected. I usually leave the dock connected all the time since it more comfortable to use. There are no difference in charging speed when the keyboard is connected or not.

Ah I’ve been using a galaxy note charger the past few days and the improvements haven’t been that great, so I guess I’m limited to my current charging speed.

More than likely just in my head then about the battery drain when powered off I guess lol, however, I definitely get slower charging speeds powered on than with the tablet powered off. I get roughly 3-4 hours for a full charge when powered off, and if I charge while it’s in use (In windows – 25%brightness – casual internet browsing etc…) it takes about 5-6 hours for a full charge.

I don’t have Android installed on my device, so I can’t realy add any input on how the battery on my device handles it.

I think as long as your charger can output 2A and designed for Android devices, it will able to push 2A to this tablet without any problem.

Strange, for me fully powered off is so much slower, as can be seen on USB amp meter. Probably Dual boot version creates this bug / problem?

When I say boot to Windows, doesn’t mean I use this tablet while charging. What I mean is boot to Windows, sleep the tablet, and connect the charger. I rarely want to use the tablet when connected to charger because I worried the micro USB port will be broken in event of accidentally pulled the cable

Could I also ask if folks can recommend a more accurate battery meter/monitor for windows 10, the charge times reported by windows are always way off for me. (currently at 67% and claims 4hr 47mins til full battery, however, this is never the case)

Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated

I usually use BatteryBar Pro, quite accurate and reliable, unless to put the tablet to sleep, where the app also count it as active time. It needs few minutes to recalculate the remaining time again after waking up from sleep or hibernate, since I set the tablet to automatically hibernate after 45 mins sleeping to prevent any Connected Standby battery drain.

In topic of battery, can anyone tell me what is the total full capacity mWh of the battery? Any battery apps seems cannot detect the battery full capacity, which is required to calculate the wear level. I just curious about my current wear level :).

Okay it seems to happen only when in Android for me and not all the time testing it. Or the drain is very little.

As for charging I’ve done many tests and the best charger I’ve found is the Note 5 / Galaxy S6 / Galaxy S7 fast charger. They are small and charger around 2.19 to 2.29A using my USB meter. The stock charger only charges around 1.8A, so it’s a little boost. Powered off I can full charge it in around 3 1/2 hours are per my review. So far this is an awesome tablet for the price, just have to be careful not to leave it in Android and docked.

I remember a similar issue now on my first ever ASUS T100, the dock drains the battery even when off a little. But if you leave it a few days it will drain it enough you might not be able to power it on without charging it first.
