I thought that might be useful to some of you, so I’d share my experience of making Ubuntu working well on Mi Pro GTX.
My main operating system is Ubuntu. That was on my previous laptops and I wanted the same on Mi Pro.
Apparently that was not as easy as I thought.
After installing Ubuntu 18.04.2 and login to my profile I got all the stuff frozen. Just the moment when the Ubuntu welcome popped up the system stopped responding.
That took me a while of ubuntu forums search to realize the problem was in the nVidia support in Ubuntu.
There as a proven fix that solved the issue in my case:

As you’d find in the page linked above the fix steps are not very straightforward. Nonetheless they did the job perfectly.
