Hi all,
I bought a Ezbook 3 Pro V4 from LightInTheBox for just $209. Unfortunately it comes with the locked bios.
When the laptop boots, it displays for a brief second the bios from American Megatrends. I see that it says “Evaluation Version.” Is that the problem?
So I went on to the American Megatrends website and found their bios update tool. From the forums, I read that it’s not safe to downgrade the bios from V5 to V4, as that could brick the computer. I’m not tech oriented, so I want to play it safe. And is version 4 of the bios the only version that is unlocked? I’m assuming I have version 5?
Has anyone used the firmware update tool for V5 from American Megatrends? I download the zip folder, but it has several folders and different applications within it. I don’t know which one I actually need to run.
I bought this laptop after watching the reviews on modifying the bios, and was strongly hoping to do so. But unfortunately the low price came with locked bios.
My bios version is: JUMPER10X.P8.WP313P.NhNAUHL02, 11/6/2017
I have attached a screenshot of the information.
If anyone has information on using the firmware update utility, your help would be greatly appreciated. This is the link:
