    I’m a “newbie” to asian-marketed tablets too!  😉

But I think some of your worries stem mostly from reading a bit “too much” about peoples issues on this forum! Remember most people visits the forums when/because they have problems!   ;-P

That said, here is my quick start-up guide, just for you!  😉

    1. First insert the powersupply in your AC outlet alone and verify that the red light diode turns on(no reason to connect a faulty supply to your tablet and risk damaging the tablet unit too).

    2. Then you connect the supply to your tablet’s USB-C port and let it charge for at least 15 minutes.

    3. Then, with the power supply still connected, you press and hold the power button for about 2 seconds(if you have keyboard connected, you should see the blue light diode turn-on immediately when pressing the pwr button and then turn-off again after about 2 seconds, which is when you wanna stop pressing the pwr button.

    4. Now you will be met with a standard windows 10 boot up and load process and should finish with a log-in screen(with no password so just press a button) and you will be left at the desktop screen.  And no, you don’t need to re-install windows 10.  The forum issue I think you are refering to, was from somebody who was messing around using a pirated/non-standard windows 10 version.   The one that comes installed works perfectly fine and has no servailance/viruses hiding inside(I checked mine with varius anti-malware and virus scanning programs  😉  ).

Did this help on your “first time” worries?  😉

i did also full clean backup image of the entire device with macrium and kept it for future clean restoring in few minutes instead of messing with driver problems while doing clean install.

Yes, I also did backups (with Macrium and AOMEI). But I then installed a clean Windows 10 1703 wich ran through without any hassles. The only annoying thing then was to install all the CHUWI drivers from their homepage, I think some two dozens or so.

So it will be fine either way: With the preinstalled Windows or with a super celan one.

Did this help on your “first time” worries? ?

Yes Daniel, you helped me a lot. Thanks for posting such great instructions. I should have looked at the replies when I saw the notifications but I thought I’d wait until I got the Hi13 and keyboard. It only just got here and took longer than expected, plus we are in the middle of moving abroad. Thanks again. And thanks for the other replies.

So, there is absolutely no benefit to doing a clean install :D. Seems too good to be true. Now just have to do all the security updates.

Is it best to take the backup image after the updates are installed? Would seem logical but thought I’d check.

And do you save the image to a USB stick or make a bootable drive or something?

    I’m a real anxious Annie aren’t I?  😀
